Photograph of a ritual initiation at an indoor hall with a red curtain and a golden trident (trishul) behind. A bare-chested young man in a white dhoti with gold borders, rudraksha malas and a sacred thread bends forward with his hands extended toward a shaved-headed boy receiving a blessing. A man in an orange-saffron robe with a heavy gold necklace and rudraksha beads holds white threads stretched over the head of a kneeling boy, while another man in orange guides them. A woman in a magenta sari and a bearded man with long swept-back hair in an orange robe with gold ornaments also take part. Several boys and young men with bare torsos and beaded necklaces watch or assist, and a striped colourful banner hangs on the wall. The scene suggests a Gayatri or Shiva deeksha initiation with ritual thread-tying.2017-02-15April 27 20162016-04-27A photograph of a crowd at a tented event with a red backdrop and hanging decorative bunting. In the foreground a long-haired figure in orange robes with a flower garland kneels and reaches forward to take an orange cloth from a man in a white shirt, white dhoti and white head cloth who stands in the centre. A young man in orange robes and an orange-and-red sash stands at right, holding a golden trident. Behind them women in orange and maroon saris with rudraksha malas, and other people in white and casual clothes, watch. A golden trident and a red-and-orange cloth are in the foreground. Several people are visible in the crowd, and the scene appears to be a ritual exchange of a cloth.2016-04-27February 07 20162016-02-07August 04 20162016-08-04December 28 20142014-12-28May 20 20132013-05-20February 07 20162016-02-07April 28 20152015-04-28July 17 20152015-07-17A ceremonial scene in an indoor hall with dark red draped curtains and potted green plants. In the foreground, a woman in an orange sari with a red-and-gold border bends forward, offering yellow flowers or grains from her hands into a silver bowl set on a red-and-gold cloth draped over a low table. Beside her, a young boy in orange cloth kneels with his hands near the bowl. Behind them, a large gold ornamental backrest or throne piece stands out. A man with a shaved head in orange and saffron robes and a rudraksha mala stands on the left, with other people in orange and white attire around the area, some seated on white cloth. Steel vessels and a green leaf sit on the floor nearby.2014-12-28April 23 20162016-04-23
