Strings of coloured lights decorate the building and the lit sign above the doorway. Several men wear orange shawls over white clothing, and a child in white stands near the front. Some people raise their arms. A figure in the middle wears an orange shawl and white garments, but the visible cues are not distinctive enough to confirm any identity, so the candidate remains uncertain. Festive lighting marks the evening Navaratri celebration.2007-10-12A night-time outdoor scene at an ashram compound, lit by a single overhead light and flashlight-like glow. Several men in white dhotis and white shirts, some with orange shawls draped over them, are moving and handling items around a small pink building with a corrugated tin roof and a palm frond overhang. One man in a white dhoti and orange shawl carries or sets down a stone statue of a standing deity murti, while others stand near stacked stone shivalinga-style pieces and black stone bases. A white-wrapped bundle and blue tarpaulin lie on the ground, with a folding table and a red cloth at left, and a line of white toilet blocks runs along the left side.A dark outdoor night gathering in which a crowd of devotees stands in rows on bare ground, lit only by a faint spotlight. A man at the far left in white shirt and trousers stands with arms folded. Most of the crowd wear white or pale clothing; a man in the centre wears an orange-yellow shawl over a white kurta and dhoti, and a woman in a yellow-green sari stands near the left. Women in saris and salwar kameez fill the right side, and a small girl in a pink skirt stands in front. A strand of small orange triangular bunting is strung across the background. No single person can be clearly identified as the a person from appearance.2007-01-01Night photograph of a crowd gathered outdoors beside a white-walled building under a street lamp. Many men in white shirts and dhotis mill about, and a man in a white shirt with a dark rudraksha-style mala stands at centre, gesturing with an arm extended. A woman in a light sari and gold earrings stands at left, and children in green and yellow clothes are at right. A small framed picture or banner hangs on the wall beside an open doorway.2013-01-06Night photograph of a row of about a dozen people standing in a line outdoors in front of a thatched-roof structure with woven bamboo walls. Most men wear white shirts and white dhotis or dark trousers with white sashes, and several wear rudraksha-style beaded necklaces. Women wear white saris, one with an orange and red shawl. Orange triangular bunting flags hang from a string on a bamboo pole at left. Ground is dirt and the sky is dark.2007-01-01Night photograph of a group of about twenty people in plain white ritual clothes walking single file along a dirt road lit by a distant floodlight. Several women wear white saris with yellow shawls draped over their shoulders, and the men wear white dhotis and white kurta-style shirts. Many wear white lanyards with identification badges around their necks. A man near the front wears a white cloth tied around his forehead. Dark trees, a palm and an orange boundary wall frame the scene. No one in the frame can be identified as a person with confidence.2010-10-12Night photo of a large outdoor gathering at the Aadhi Peetha, Bidadi ashram. A crowd of many people, mostly dressed in white dhotis, saris and kurtas, fills the dark ground, with a green corrugated-roof building with red walls at right. In the foreground a woman with long dark hair and an orange garment with a red border laughs and holds a microphone. To her left a man in a white dhoti and orange shawl with a pendant necklace stands among the crowd, and children in white stand nearby. The scene appears to be a festive night celebration with many participants.2006-10-21
