Photo 11702211December 28 20112011-12-28A photograph of a gilded deity murti pair seated on a raised golden throne against an orange drape within an ornate gold arch. The male figure wears a red turban, a rudraksha mala and layered jewelled necklaces, holds a trident and makes a raised blessing hand. The female figure wears a teal blouse, a gold crown and heavy gem necklaces, and holds a lotus-like object. Both are garlanded with yellow and red marigolds. A teal and gold cloth drapes a central shivalinga-like form with a rudraksha garland, and a small deity figure stands before it. Brass lamps, a kalasha-style vessel, flowers and offering bowls sit on the altar in front. No people are visible.2013-06-18A photograph of a temple alankaram with two decorated deity murti seated on a pedestal, adorned with jasmine and rose garlands. The male murti holds a staff-like emblem and wears a dark green garment with silver ornaments; the female murti wears a green and red silk skirt, a tall jewelled crown and a heavy silver necklace. Two priests in ritual attire attend them: one bare-chested with a white sacred thread and orange cloth, adjusting the murti's garment, and another on the right in a green dhoti-style cloth tending the decorations. Marigold and rose garlands drape the foreground pedestal, with a copper-coloured base visible below.January 01 20082008-01-01April 18 20162016-04-18 +1 copiesJune 15 20092009-06-15May 07 20172017-05-07Outdoor procession scene at a decorated ratha in Chennai. A man in a white dhoti and kurta with an orange shawl stands at left, holding a lit camphor flame in a metal aarti lamp toward two golden deity murtis seated on a pink-draped throne. The murtis wear jeweled necklaces, crowns and garlands of white jasmine, yellow marigolds and red flowers. Golden pillars frame the canopy, with a green tree behind and a pink basket of flowers and coconuts at lower left.2006-11-05A photograph of a ceremonial scene on a gold-framed throne before a yellow and green drape. Two seated figures, one in a gold crown and a jewelled necklace draped in a red and gold garment, and a second adorned figure in gold crown and layered gold necklaces, appear to be deity murti or decorated figures, as they are very still and carved-looking. Both are garlanded with yellow and white flowers and red marigold strands. On the left, a man in a blue turban and brown garment raises a hand toward them, holding a black ornamental fan or umbrella. On the right, a man in a white dhoti with white flower garlands and a gold-topped headpiece stands, with a gold lamp stand nearby. The setting suggests a temple-style abhishekam or darshan.2015-10-18June 18 20132013-06-18August 15 20102010-08-15
