October 20 20062006-10-20Indoor photo of a raised stage in a hall with a large banner printed with a smiling man in an orange turban and a Tamil-titled Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam logo. A small deity murti dressed in gold with flower garlands sits before the banner, flanked by brass oil lamps and tall striped cloth banners. A beige armchair stands on the stage beside a framed portrait of a person in orange robes. In the foreground, a woman in white with folded hands sits near flower offerings and brass vessels, and a girl in white kneels in prayer on the floor.2011-10-05October 20 20062006-10-20October 05 20112011-10-05A photograph of a shrine inside a hall with tall white columns. A man with his back to the camera, dressed in a white shirt and white dhoti, stands before the shrine and gestures with one hand. The shrine has a poster-like board at top reading "NITHYANANDA DHYANAPEETAM" with a framed portrait of a smiling man in an orange-red turban and orange garment, one hand raised, beneath a garland of yellow flowers. Below it is a framed image of a seated figure in white and gold robes amid red and orange flower garlands, with oil lamps burning in front and brass lamps on the floor. A Tamil caption on the board reads "Purnima" in the lower section.2007-07-25August 16 20092009-08-16A photograph inside a small home shrine with blue-painted walls. Two people in saffron-orange clothing stand with their backs to the camera: a woman on the left with a pink garland, and a man on the right in orange robes with a maroon-edged shawl, palms pressed together in namaskar. The shrine has a large framed portrait of a seated, bare-chested man with a rudraksha mala, draped in a blue cloth and garlanded with red and yellow flowers, labelled in print as Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Below are smaller framed images, marigold and rose garlands, an oil lamp burning and small offerings. A wooden cupboard at right carries a faded calendar print of deities.October 23 20062006-10-23A man in white ritual clothes with an orange shawl stands indoors before a wooden shrine cabinet, holding a small flame in a brass vessel near a stack of books. On the wall above, a framed photograph shows a seated man in orange robes with a crown of white jasmine garland and a red flower, against a background of large tree roots. Small brass deity figures, white flowers and a lotus-shaped brass dish sit on the shelf below. The man's build and hair are visible from behind, but no face is clearly shown, so identity is not established from appearance. The portrait's caption is printed in Tamil script. Curtains hang at the windows, and a purple logo is visible at the top left.2006-10-23A photograph of a ceremonial inauguration in a small white-walled room. A long-haired man in saffron-orange robes and a white flower garland holds a lit oil lamp toward a garlanded altar table laden with flower-decorated plates, bowls and offerings. Behind him, an older man in white dhoti with hands pressed together in prayer stands at left, and another man is partly visible at the far left edge. On the wall, several framed portraits and posters are garlanded with flowers: a central portrait of a seated saffron-robed figure in a forest setting, a green mandala-style banner, and two portraits of a smiling young man in a white turban and dark blue embroidered robe. Tamil and Tamil-script captions appear on posters. The person with the lamp matches a candidate whose presentation includes long swept-back hair, saffron robes and a flower garland, so the cues are ornate but the appearance is uncertain.2006-02-12A photograph of a ritual inside a small room with white walls. A long-haired man in saffron-orange robes, with a white flower garland, holds a lit oil lamp on a brass plate toward a shrine table. Several people stand at left; a white-clad elderly man with glasses has his palms joined in prayer. The table below holds bowls of fruit, flower petals, a brass vessel and offerings. Garlands of marigolds and roses frame three framed portraits: a green panel with a central red-and-yellow medallion, a seated saffron-robed figure, and smaller and larger portraits of a smiling man in a white turban and dark robe. A Tamil and English caption on the large portrait reads Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Multiple people appear at the left edge.2006-02-12October 05 20112011-10-05
