A photograph of a large outdoor gathering at the Simhastha Kumbh Mela where many people are seated and standing on a striped mat. In the foreground, many seated sadhus wear saffron and orange robes and turbans, with water bottles and steel plates before them. Standing figures in saffron, orange and white clothing move through the centre; one bald man in a dark brown dhoti and shawl stands near a large drum, while a man in white kurta and dark shawl stands at right. Tall brass lamp stands, with oil lamps, are at left beneath blue tarpaulin. Partial figures appear at the edges.2015-09-14A procession under a large pink-and-white canopy on a red carpet. Several robed participants in orange and saffron walk with a long brass horn and a trident-like staff stands at the left. A golden ceremonial umbrella hangs above them, and drums and a red-carpeted platform are visible, with seated devotees in the foreground including a man in white with a mala and folded hands. No single figure can be confidently identified as a person from appearance, so the role-based description stands.2016-05-04A photograph of a procession inside a decorated temple hall with a striped red and white mat underfoot. Many devotees in saffron and orange robes sit cross-legged on long multicoloured striped mats, each with a steel thali plate and small steel tumbler. A bald man in a maroon-and-orange dhoti and shawl, with a beaded necklace, bends forward to serve food from a vessel toward the row. Several seated men wear orange headwear and saffron clothing, and a few wear white. Behind them stand ornate golden lamps and a decorated deity shrine with garlands. A rounded lamp hangs near a wall, and a fan and a monitor appear at the right edge. The dark drapery and ornamented altar suggest a sacred hall, consistent with an annadan-style meal.2015-09-12 +1 copiesOutdoor temple procession scene with red-painted walls and a tiled roof behind.
