March 03 20112011-03-03A large crowd of devotees sits on the floor of a covered hall with a corrugated metal roof and orange walls, facing a raised red-and-gold throne on the right. A figure in orange robes with a rudraksha mala and long dark hair sits on the throne; the candidate matches the appearance cues but the identification is uncertain, so the figure is described as a seated speaker on a throne. Many devotees wear white, orange, yellow and green saris and white kurtas, some with red and orange shawls. Red carpet covers the floor in front of the throne, with orange cloth beneath the seat. Along the back wall, a long framed display with photographs and printed text is hung, and decorative cloth banners with yellow tassels hang from the ceiling. A glass case with a metal frame stands on the left.2011-03-03A photograph of a large indoor hall with a corrugated metal roof and ceiling fans, where a crowd of mostly women and children sits on the floor in white, yellow, orange and pink saris and kurtas, many with orange and yellow shawls and garlands. At the right, a figure in orange robes sits on a red-cushioned gold throne on a red carpet, facing the audience; a row of white-clad seated men is beside the carpet. Hanging decorative streamers and tall painted pillars line the ceiling, and a wall banner shows framed photographs. A railing separates the seated devotees from the dais.2011-03-03Indoor satsang hall with a corrugated metal roof and hanging decorative strings. In the foreground, women in saffron, orange, white and yellow saris and salwar sit on the floor, several with yellow shawls, one wearing a bindi and holding a bottle of water. Behind them rows of attendees in white clothing face a raised dais at right, where a red carpet leads to an ornate gold-framed red throne displaying a framed portrait of a figure in orange. Two men in white sit near the dais. A tall decorated kalasha-like pillar with hanging garlands stands at centre, and framed photographs hang on the right wall.2011-03-03A seated audience of women and girls in white clothes sits on colourful striped mats in a tented hall with white ceiling fans and tall decorated pillars with multicoloured panels. At the front, a figure in an orange-saffron robe sits on a raised platform before a dark curtain with a gold trim, facing the rows of listeners. Several people wear white saris and have long braids, and a few white plastic chairs line the right edge. A man in a yellow vest stands near a camera on a tripod at the side. The scene looks like a convention session or discourse.A photograph of a seated congregation in a open-sided hall with a corrugated roof and yellow curtains. Rows of devotees in white clothes sit on mats, with women in yellow-bordered white saris near the right. At the front, a figure in orange robes sits on an ornate gold throne-like seat before yellow drapes, with a small television and a table to the left. A standing attendant in white is at the right edge, and a seated elderly person in light clothing sits near the front right. Around 40 people are visible.2009-09-07A photograph inside a covered temple hall with orange-painted walls and a corrugated roof, where a large seated group of devotees sits on a concrete floor. A standing priest in orange dhoti and shawl walks along a red carpet between the rows. On the right, a seated figure in orange robes sits on a white chair, and a man in white clothes with a folded shawl sits in front with hands joined. Several children and women in white and yellow shawls sit among the devotees. Framed photographs hang on the right wall, and a brass lamp and offering items sit at the lower right. Some devotees wear saffron and yellow shawls. The setting suggests satsang or darshan at a temple.2010-07-21A wide photograph of a hall with a white tent-style ceiling, white ceiling fans and hanging decorative cylindrical banners in red, blue and yellow patterns. A seated figure in an orange robe sits on a raised dais at the far end before a black curtain edged with gold trim, with a microphone stand nearby. Dozens of women in white saris sit on colourful striped mats and blue cloths on the floor in rows facing the dais, while white plastic chairs line the right side. A man in a yellow garment stands at a table at the back right, and a camera on a tripod is set up near the front.A photograph of a large hall with a tent-like white roof and tall decorative pillars wrapped in colourful woven patterns. Dozens of people, mostly women in white clothes with yellow or orange shawls, sit cross-legged on the floor in rows facing right. A man in white stands at left beside a video camera on a tripod. At the right front, a figure in orange robes sits on a zebra-striped throne-like seat, appearing to address the gathering; the figure's appearance is consistent with a person (orange robe and seated on a raised throne), but the face and features are too small to confirm. Mounted microphones and a small banner appear near the stage area.2008-07-17A large indoor hall filled with seated devotees in white ritual clothes, many with orange or gold-trimmed sashes, facing a raised stage at right. On the golden throne with red cushions sits a person in orange-red robes speaking into a microphone, with a stage light on a stand beside them. Hanging colourful striped banners decorate the white ceiling. Several monks in saffron robes sit near the back of the hall. The overwhelming majority of the crowd is white-clad women and men, with some in orange, and the scene reads as a satsang or discourse session. The seated crowd is large, well over one hundred people.2009-06-21September 07 20092009-09-07 +1 copies
