The fingers press and smooth the wet clay, which has a rough, layered texture. Behind it, two pale wooden poles stand upright against a plain light grey wall. Only the forearms and hands of one person are visible, with no face shown. +1 copiesA hand holding a thin modelling tool carves fine details into a grey clay sculpture of a face, shaping the brow, eye, nose and mouth of a head with a flat ear. Behind the sculpture, dry wooden poles and woven bamboo matting form a roof with a warm glow of light. The work appears to be a clay murti in progress in a sacred arts workshop.2009-12-17A close photo of two hands shaping a small dark clay figurine of a standing seated-style human figure with outstretched arms. One hand holds the figure steady while the other, holding a reddish-brown wooden modelling tool, carves fine lines along its torso and drapery. A second, partly formed clay piece lies on the grey surface in the background, and a white cloth with a red-and-black edge is visible at the right. No physical person is visible beyond the hands, and the figure is a sculpture, not a person depiction.2013-07-11Close photograph of an arm reaching into a large mound of reddish-brown clay on a workbench, shaping it with the hand. Wooden stakes or armature poles stand behind the clay against a plain pale wall. Loose clay crumbs lie on the metal table edge. Only a single arm is visible, so one person is partially present. +1 copiesSeptember 20 20062006-09-20A photograph of an unfinished clay sculpture of a seated figure on a red-brown wooden table. The figure sits in a cross-legged meditation pose with one palm raised in a blessing gesture and the other hand resting on the knee. It wears a draped robe and a wrapped turban, with a long cloth falling behind the shoulders. A blurred hand, with an orange-clad arm at the left edge, reaches in from the top to shape the head. The sculpture is a statue, not a living person, so no physical person is counted beyond the partially visible hand and arm.2011-02-02Close-up photograph of a large sculpture being shaped from wet reddish-brown clay. A human hand and forearm, bare-skinned with traces of pale clay dust, press into the rough, ridged clay mass, while a sleeve of bright green fabric is visible at the left edge. The grey wall behind the clay is partly visible at the right. No face or full figure is shown, and the clay work appears to be an unfinished murthy in progress. +1 copiesA close photograph of a sculptor's hands shaping a large mass of reddish-brown clay on a wooden workbench against a white wall. Two arms are visible at left, one hand pressing and smoothing the clay with a fingertip, while the clay body rises in rough, layered ridges toward the right. Pale wooden supports stand behind the clay, and a green-painted table leg is visible at the lower left. No people's faces are visible; the scene shows a murthy being modelled in clay. +1 copiesMay 18 20142014-05-18
