Beside him stands an ornately carved wooden chariot or ratha-like structure with tiered carvings on its side, resting on wooden blocks. Behind are a large white tent, a blue tarpaulin-covered cart, mounds of earth and a partly built scaffolded structure with flags, under a pale sky.2016-11-20December 15 20112011-12-15A photograph of a richly decorated golden palanquin-style ratha on a flatbed trolley, draped with white jasmine garlands, yellow and orange marigold strings and hanging tassels in red, pink, green and blue. A figure in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban sits on the gold throne, raising one hand in blessing, with a red-and-blue cushion beside him and a gold-and-red canopy overhead. Banana plants and a green tarpaulin fence frame the outdoor setting. In the foreground at left, a bald man in white dhoti and shawl holds a mobile phone, and rows of black chairs stand behind the cart. A ratha procession with a seated figure of uncertain identity, not a clear appearance-based match.2010-12-29December 11 20162016-12-11 +1 copiesDecember 15 20112011-12-15A figure in orange robes and an orange turban sits on an ornate golden palanquin-style float decorated with white jasmine garlands, multicoloured tassels and a golden canopy with a fringed orange umbrella above. The float rests on a flower-strewn golden platform attached to a tractor. The figure raises one hand in blessing, with a garland draped over the shoulder. Banana trunks, green fabric screens and rows of black chairs fill the open grounds behind. The seated figure appears to be a person (a person), recognised by orange robes, orange turban and garlanded procession seat, though the appearance is only partly clear.2010-12-29An ornate golden ratha, a festival chariot, is decorated with garlands of marigold and tassels, with a multicoloured umbrella overhead and carved golden dragon-head ends. A man in a white shirt stands inside the chariot, with a seated attendant in red at the front. Palm trees and a signboard stand behind, and a few other people in white and orange are visible in the background.2011-12-15
