A rural village scene of a low mud-brick house with a bright turquoise painted wall and a thatched roof of dried straw and palm fronds, with a torn white cloth draped over part of the roof. A woven palm-frond fence stands to the left beside a concrete drain along a dirt road. A silver metal pot sits in the dusty yard, a yellow plastic bag lies on the ground, and a banana plant grows at the right edge beneath leafy trees and power lines. A chalk kolam-style design is drawn on a flat stone slab in the foreground. No people are visible.2007-03-03January 03 20122012-01-03January 07 20122012-01-07July 08 20122012-07-08May 20 1989January 03 20122012-01-03January 06 20122012-01-06A photograph of a dusty unpaved village lane lined with thatched huts and a low concrete drainage channel. In the background a woman in a pink sari and a shirtless child stand near the ruins, with a water vessel nearby.A photograph of storm-damaged buildings on a residential street. In the centre a small structure with a collapsed thatched roof of dried palm fronds and bamboo rafters is partly exposed, with bare timber poles propping its green wall. Beside it stand white and orange-painted concrete houses, a light green wall and a corrugated sheet roof with debris scattered on the ground in the foreground. No people are visible.2012-01-07A photograph of a damaged village house in a dusty lane, its roof partly torn away and covered by a blue tarpaulin held down with wooden poles. Fallen red bricks and rubble lie in a heap against the white-washed wall, and the tiled roof beams are exposed. Palm trees and bare branches stand behind the house, and a folding chair sits at the left edge near a thatched hut. No people are visible. The scene shows cyclone damage relief context from the page.2012-01-06A photograph of a turquoise-painted single-storey house with a dark tiled roof, set among palm trees and greenery under overcast light. A rectangular poster is pinned beside the doorway, showing a printed portrait of a person and some text. Two parked motorcycles and a bamboo fence stand in the foreground. No physical people are clearly visible; a dark figure in blue clothing is partly visible inside the doorway.2006-10-27
