The devotee's hand rests on a gilded ornate pedestal decorated with a red, yellow and green flower garland. Nearby, a woman with long braided hair in an orange top stands beside a metal pot, and a white cloth bundle. The setting suggests a padapuja or devotional darshan.2017-07-08July 08 20172017-07-08 +2 copiesA padapuja scene: several devotees gather around a gilded, ornately carved wooden pedestal and perform worship with rose petals and a brass plate. A man in white kurta with a rudraksha mala and a visitor badge leans forward, offering from a gold-rimmed brass bowl. A woman in a green blouse with bangles reaches in from the left, and a woman in a white top with long dark hair reaches in from the right. A person in orange robes with a beaded garland stands behind. Red and pink petals cover the tray.2009-09-07Outdoor naming ceremony under a open canopy at an ashram. A seated man with long dark dreadlocks, a rust-orange robe and a white-and-pink flower garland sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne with a golden fan-shaped backrest. In front, a woman in an orange sari with a red-bordered cloth and rudraksha beads stands at a red-cloth-covered bed holding a small red box, while a baby lies on a leopard-print cloth. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with pink border kneels beside the bed, and another priest in white stands at left beside a tray of fruit, flowers and offerings. Other women in saffron and red saris stand in the background near striped steps and a small decorated shrine.2017-04-17A photograph of a ritual at a temple shrine with a white-draped table in the foreground. A man with long, swept-back dark hair and a shaved-looking profile wears an orange saffron wrap over bare shoulders, a rudraksha mala, and a red tilak on his forehead; he raises both hands with fingers together in an offering gesture. Beside him a man in a white kurta and white dhoti holds a long garland of purple and yellow flowers and lifts strings toward the shrine. Behind them stand a bronze-coloured deity murti with a green and red garment, marigold garlands, and purple cloth draped on a platform. Brass lamps and scattered flower petals sit on the floor, with string decorations hung overhead.2007-12-25Photograph of a ritual abhishekam setup seen from behind. In the foreground, a person with long dark braided hair wears an orange garment with a gold border and rests a hand near a flower tray. Another figure in a white dhoti and white shawl with a purple-pink border sits cross-legged at a red-covered table, a pearl necklace visible at the neck. Marigold and purple flower garlands surround two red pomegranates set on a silver tray, with brass plates and bowls of flowers and offerings across the table. Other people in white and purple garments stand behind the table. Several visible people are in the scene, and no face of any person is clearly shown.2016-12-02A photograph of a devotee in a white shirt bending forward to touch the bare feet of a seated figure dressed in orange saffron cloth. The seated figure wears a rudraksha mala and a long white and red garland, and sits on a raised platform decorated with marigolds, roses and white flower garlands. The devotee's hand and forehead rest near the feet in an act of padapuja. Orange cloth is draped over the seated figure's lap. Flower petals scattered across the platform complete the scene.2010-02-18A photograph of a devotee's hand resting on a white-wrapped bundle placed on a brass tray decorated with marigold and flower petals, in front of a seated figure wrapped in orange cloth with gold border. A man in white dhoti with orange-gold border and a rudraksha mala stands with palms joined beside a red-cushioned gold throne. The bundle is part of a set of white coconut bundles on the floor, consistent with a padapuja offering of coconuts at the feet of a seated guru on a throne. The seated figure's face is not visible in the frame.2016-01-02
