A photograph of a group walking single file along a narrow dirt path lined with scrubby green trees and palms. In front, a young man in a loose saffron-orange shawl over a red undershirt, with orange sandals, walks steadily. Behind him follow a man in an orange kurta and dhoti and several women in white saris and white blouses, one with a yellow shoulder cloth and another in a green skirt, some holding water bottles. The mood is calm and orderly.

Two men in front wear saffron-orange robes: the nearer one in an orange wrap with a red undershirt and sandals, the one beside him in a long orange kurta with a dhoti-style lower garment and sandals. Behind them a man in white shirt and white dhoti walks, followed by a column of about twenty devotees, many women in white saris and men in white, some with yellow and green shawls, carrying the procession forward toward Arunachala Hill. The scene suggests a sacred hill circumambulation, with the orange-clad leaders at the head. The front figure's appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm an identity.2009-08-05
