A photograph of a square concrete-lined fire pit under construction, with dark grey brick walls and a smooth concrete rim. A person in an orange-red robe with a dark sash is bent over inside the pit, arranging wooden logs and sticks. A bamboo ladder leans against the far rim, and a white-clothed figure stands at the top edge beside a plate of white offerings and stacked bricks. The sandy ground around the pit holds more wood and a white plastic bag.

A square brick-walled fire pit sunk into a concrete platform on bare ground. Inside the pit, a person in an orange-red garment bends low, arranging split wooden logs and kindling among scattered debris. A bamboo ladder leans against the far edge. Above, a white-clad figure with an orange cloth stands at the top edge beside a metal plate holding white items, with more stacked logs and a bundle of wood on the ground. Stacked white bricks sit at the upper left. The scene shows preparation of a fire pit for a homa, with no visible face or ceremony beyond the fire arrangement.2006-11-21A photograph of a square brick-lined pit at a temple construction site. A shaven-headed monk in saffron robes stands on a bamboo ladder inside the pit, holding a shallow dish of earth or sand, while another saffron-robed monk crouches below and grips the ladder. Several more saffron-robed devotees stand around the rim, and one man in white dhoti and shirt stands among them. Earthen mounds and a bamboo ladder frame the scene. Shuddhi-style purification at a sanctum site is suggested by the context, but the pit is simply a excavated foundation area.2006-11-20December 17 20062006-12-17December 17 20062006-12-17A man in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange turban stands at the edge of a brick-lined square fire pit at night. He wears a rudraksha mala around his neck and looks down toward the small wood fire burning inside the pit, with stacked firewood and flames visible. The pit is decorated with white rangoli-style patterns and orange marks on its brick rim, consistent with a homa or yagna fire ritual. Behind him are a parked yellow-and-blue bus, a small car, a lit lamp post and a multi-storey building, with smoke rising in the background. No other people are visible.2006-12-17December 17 20062006-12-17A photograph taken from above of a deep, brick-walled excavation pit at a temple construction site, with earthen floor and a wooden ladder leaning against the wall. Three men in orange ochre sannyasi-style robes stand or crouch inside the pit, one shaved-headed figure in orange standing near the ladder with his hand extended, another orange-robed figure at the right edge looking down, and two men in white and checked clothing crouch in the foreground beside a circular stone object on the floor. Another orange-robed person stands at the top corner of the pit. Shadows of people are cast across the brick wall. This appears to be the sanctum site preparation for a temple, with ritual purification activity described on the page.2006-11-20December 22 20062006-12-22August 31 20172017-08-31January 05 20192019-01-05December 17 20062006-12-17January 05 20192019-01-05
