October 10 20102010-10-10A photograph of a white-walled hall with ceiling fans. In the foreground, a seated figure with long dark hair wears an orange robe and sits on a red cushion, facing away from the camera. To the left, a man in an orange dhoti holds a silver tray of fruit and offerings toward him. Behind and around them, about nine men stand in white shirts and dhotis or trousers, with one man in a yellow-and-gold dhoti and shawl wearing a tilak on his forehead. Baskets of fruit and a small bell-like object sit on the floor near the cushion. The seated figure's identity is not established from appearance; the orange-robed, long-haired figure is a sannyasi-style devotee in a ritual setting.2011-01-16November 22 20152015-11-22A photograph taken indoors in a plain white-walled hall with ceiling fans and a metal-framed window. A figure in orange ochre robes sits cross-legged on a red cloth at left, gesturing with one hand toward a standing group. Behind him, a shaved-headed attendant in orange robes holds a silver tray of fruit and offerings. Around them, about a dozen men in white dhotis and white shirts stand in a loose circle, several with hands clasped or arms folded, one holding fruit. Visible props include oranges, a water bottle and a small bowl at lower left. The seated figure has long hair tied back and a crown-like appearance is absent; he is described only by his role as a seated teacher in orange robes.2011-01-16February 18 20112011-02-18Indoor photograph in a whitewashed hall with barred windows and a metal-roofed ceiling.
