A festive outdoor evening scene under a white canopy hung with colourful paper lanterns, tassels and banana-leaf garlands. On the right, a golden throne with orange cushions and a small brass lamp stands on a striped mat decorated with flowers and fruit. A man in an orange dhoti and shawl, with a yellow-beaded garland, raises an arm near the front of a raised platform. Rows of devotees in white dhotis and orange shawls stand with palms pressed together in namaste and hold offering plates. A large screen on the right shows a crowd in red and white, and a banner above shows a world map with a portrait labelled with a printed name. The setting suggests a deepam lamp ritual.
