Evening Ganga Aarti at a riverside ghat with a large crowd densely packed on the stone steps and along the embankment. Several men in white dhotis and kurtas stand near the water's edge and on the steps, some holding lit oil lamps and a tall brass aarti lamp with flames. Bright fire-lit offerings glow on a platform in the foreground right, where figures in white sit in worship. Hundreds of devotees in colourful saris, salwar kameez and shawls fill the stairs, while people along the bottom of the frame watch from the water's edge with pink, blue and orange head coverings. Reflections of lamplight shimmer on the river, and shop signs and a small temple structure line the buildings behind.
