Outdoor photo of a riverside gathering at a stone ghat with a whitewashed building and steps behind. A central figure in orange-saffron robes sits on a raised seat under a multicoloured striped parasol, with a brass or copper vessel and offerings before them, apparently a ritual performance. Around them, a large crowd sits closely on stone steps and a platform: many in white clothes, some in orange and saffron, several wearing rudraksha malas. A cameraman with a shoulder-mounted camera films at left, and a dark umbrella is held at the far left edge. Some people stand on the steps behind in white.2006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22Outdoor riverside ritual gathering with a crowd seated on the ground in front of a stone-walled building and multi-storey house. A central figure in a saffron-orange robe sits on a raised golden-yellow draped seat, with a golden kalasha-like vessel and offerings on a wooden platform before them. A man in white holds a large multicoloured umbrella overhead, and several people in white and sandals stand on the steps. Many participants wear white kurtas, saffron and pastel saris and rudraksha malas. The scene suggests a puja or satsang beside a river.2006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22A photograph of a large open-air gathering of devotees seated on a stone-paved riverside area in front of a white gated building with stone steps, a wall and a balcony. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti and a dark-shirted figure with a camera on a tripod film the scene, while a woman in an orange sari sits among the crowd. Many participants wear white, orange, pink and checked clothing, and some carry rudraksha malas. A small crowd gathers on the steps behind. No clearly visible person matches the a person appearance cues, so no candidate is identified. Visible people number well over twenty.2006-05-22Outdoor riverside ceremony on the banks of a river with rocky shore and wooded hills behind. A man with long dark hair in a saffron-orange robe sits cross-legged on a raised cushioned seat draped in orange and gold cloth, while a standing man in white garments and rudraksha beads holds a multicoloured embroidered parasol above him. Before him is a wooden box with a brass vessel on top and small offering dishes. Seated devotees in white, orange, pink and green clothing, many wearing rudraksha malas, sit on the ground in rows facing him. Multi-storey white building with balconies stands in the background. Looks like a satsang or puja by the river.2006-05-22May 22 20062006-05-22Outdoor ritual on a riverside ghat beside a broad, grey-brown river with forested hills across the water. Dozens of devotees in white clothes with saffron-orange shawls sit on mats in rows along the steps, many with hands folded. A cameraman on a tripod films the gathering at left. On the raised platform, a figure in orange robes sits before a shrine with a kalasha, lamps, marigold garlands and offerings, while several saffron-robed priests attend nearby. Two white parasols shade the platform and a banner is visible on the wall. A person seated on the platform in saffron-orange robes is distinct, but face and appearance cues are not clear enough to name anyone; the scene is consistent with a puja or satsang at a river ghat.2014-08-01
