A priest in white clothing, with a bangle on the wrist, reaches in with a long-handled metal ladle held over a copper or brass bowl containing offerings. Behind the pit, several seated men in white dhotis and shirts play drums, and a woman in a gold-bordered sari stands at the right edge. Brass vessels, a red cloth and fruit lie on the ground near the fire. Scattered figures stand in the background. The scene shows a homa ritual in an outdoor courtyard.2011-12-31December 12 20112011-12-12A brick-lined fire pit with a bright flame rising from dry sticks inside, the homa fire at the centre of the frame. Behind it, a seated officiant in white clothing with a gold-bordered cloth sits cross-legged, hands raised near the flame. The flame suggests an offering ritual, with the officiant's face not visible.2011-11-29November 29 20112011-11-29October 01 20112011-10-01A large open flame rises from a homa fire pit in the foreground, with rectangular yellow-and-pink sweets or offerings arranged around its base. Behind the fire, a person in an orange-saffron robe with a gold-toned ornate necklace sits, with one hand resting on a sheet of paper. Brass lamps, a small bell, a bowl of water, red flower petals in metal dishes, and a bundle of dried twigs lie on the table. The orange robe and gold necklace are the most distinctive visible cues, but the face is cropped out, so identity is uncertain.A shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl with a red-and-gold border sits cross-legged beside a brick fire pit (homa/yagna) with bright flames. He wears a heavy gold necklace and a gold pendant, holds a ladle over the fire in one hand, and reads from an open book on a stand with a microphone. Behind him stands a wooden cart, and to the right are trays of red chillies, fruit and other offerings.2011-12-31A photograph of a homa fire burning in a rectangular brick-lined fire pit, with bright orange flames rising on the left. A small hammered brass or copper bowl sits on the pit's rim, with red flower petals and white powder scattered along the edges. Behind the fire, a partly visible person's hand holds a long ladle or stick, and a bead garland hangs at right. The setting appears to be a fire ritual with offerings. No faces are visible.2017-08-02
