A scanned Tamil newspaper page dated 25.09.2006 with a photograph of a bamboo pole (pandhakal) being raised at the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai for the Karthigai Deepam festival. In the photo, several men in traditional attire stand around the pole: a bare-chested man in an orange-red dhoti holds the base and lights a small oil lamp on a plate, a man in red robes and rudraksha malas stands beside him, and men in white dhotis and shirts look on, with a decorated pole top festooned with flowers. The news article beside it reports the pandhakal ceremony and the Ananda Rathotsavam launch event, mentioning a person Swamigal among the attendees. The photo itself does not clearly show a person, and the a person field is unsure because the candidate figures are not confidently identifiable from appearance.
