Outdoor evening gathering at dusk on an open field, with a large crowd of people in white clothes seated on the ground and on white plastic chairs. Small oil lamps or fire pits glow in front of many participants, and a haze of smoke rises over the field. Tall illuminated poles and floodlights line the background under a dark blue sky, with trees and a utility pole silhouetted at the horizon. The scene resembles a ritual or puja gathering. A man in a white shirt and trousers sits on a chair at the right foreground, and others nearby bend over the lamps.

July 29 20082008-07-29Dusk outdoor homa on open dry ground with hundreds of people seated on white plastic chairs and mats in rows behind small brick fire pits, each holding a flickering flame. Many men wear white dhotis and shirts, while women wear saris in bright colours including orange, pink and green. Floodlights and rising smoke fill the scene under a blue evening sky. Mostly partly visible people in the foreground tend the fire pits. No single figure is clearly identifiable as a person, so the pictured people are described by role only.2008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29
