Night-time outdoor gathering under a palm-frond and banana-stem canopy strung with green fairy lights and white and pink flower garlands. Crowded men and some women stand close together. In the centre a shaved-headed young man wears an orange-saffron robe with a rudraksha mala, and beside him a bare-chested man with a shaved head wears an orange-red cloth draped over his shoulder with a marigold garland. Many onlookers wear white shirts, checked shirts and glasses. Many men in white shirts and dhotis press together, several with rudraksha malas around their necks. In the lower centre, a shaved-headed young man in white with a yellow-bordered cloth stands with his back to the camera while a man in white glasses and a white shirt, mala visible, smiles toward him. Other men on the left and right lean in, and a man in a pale blue shirt is at left. No robed central figure with distinctive ceremonial cues is visible in the frame, so the scene is best described as devotees and volunteers in a crowd.2012-01-08Outdoors under a corrugated metal canopy decorated with colourful cloth bunting and green banana leaves, a crowd presses around a central figure. The central figure wears a deep red-orange turban, an orange-red robe and a white and red flower garland, with a rudraksha mala visible. Around them, saffron-robed attendants with shaved heads hold and guide them, while men in white shirts and dhotis and boys in casual clothes press close. Coconuts hang at the right edge. The scene suggests a darshan or procession moment in a village setting.2014-07-01July 01 20142014-07-01A dense crowd fills a temple hall with stone pillars and hanging orange and yellow fabric. In the foreground, a bare-chested man with a rudraksha mala and a multi-tiered brass lamp, lit with flames, is held aloft at the front of a procession. Beside him, several men in saffron and orange cloth and gold necklaces stand with palms pressed together, and a long-haired man in an orange shawl smiles in greeting. Devotees in white dhotis and shirts raise hands in worship behind them, and a banana plant is visible above.2012-04-05A crowded evening procession moves along a covered walkway decorated with green banana leaves and hanging mango leaves, under a white corrugated roof and bright stage light. In the centre, a man in a rust-orange garment and orange turban walks at the front, with a white-robed man in a dark orange shawl and a bare-chested man in ornate attire nearby. Many men in white shirts and dhotis, some with orange shawls and rudraksha-style necklaces, surround them, while a few devotees in checked shirts and bare-chested men stand in the foreground, some holding small items. Uniformed police stand at the left edge. The scene suggests a temple-related procession at an ashram.2014-06-29 +1 copies
