At the front, a man in white dhoti and shawl plays a long wind instrument, while drummers in white and yellow lungis beat drums slung over their shoulders. Behind them, several men in saffron-orange robes and orange shawls walk under decorated parasols with red, green and white canopies and pennants. Red flags flutter at left and small children watch from the roadside. The procession appears to be a temple-bound ritual march.2009-06-09Outdoor procession on a dirt path lined with palm and shade trees. In the foreground, musicians in white dhotis and white shirts play long brass nagaswaram-style horns and drums; the drummer on the left carries a red-and-gold patterned drum. A central figure with long dark hair and a flower garland of orange and white blooms wears an orange saffron robe, orange beaded necklace and a rudraksha-style mala, walking barefoot-looking in sandals between attendants. Men in white and saffron robes walk alongside, and drummers in white dhotis and shirts play large hand drums. Ceremonial umbrellas in red, yellow and blue with tasselled edges are held overhead, and golden trident staffs are carried. A white van with partial lettering stands in the background. The scene reads as a ritual procession with percussion and parasols.2009-12-23Photo 11712192 +1 copiesDecember 29 20102010-12-29May 05 20152015-05-05Outdoor photo of a bare-chested man with long swept-back hair, wearing a rust-brown dhoti and wrap with gold border, a long necklace of beads and a bead mala, and bangles, walking barefoot along a white mat path past a red-orange wall.
