Several men in white dhotis and shirts play long brass horns called nadaswaram or mukha-vina, and a woman in a red sari and white blouse plays alongside them. A drummer in a red cloth and a man in a golden-yellow shirt lead the group. Behind them, a decorated canopy with multicoloured embroidery, hanging tassels and orange flags is carried above the crowd. Devotees in white, some with white vibhuti marks and rudraksha malas, follow closely behind. A man at the front right holds a hand raised in greeting.2005-01-01December 30 20072007-12-30Outdoor procession on a dirt path lined with trees. A man in a white shirt and green-and-blue checked lungi plays a long silver wind instrument, a nadaswaram-style horn, with a gold tassel and a red tilak on his forehead. Behind him a group in white dhotis and shirts walks under a decorated canopy with colourful embroidered panels and hanging tassels. A man in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a gold necklace walks near the center. Young men in red and white shirts stand at the edges. Several people wear rudraksha malas. Some of the procession carries a long pole carrying the canopy. Trees and parked vehicles are visible in the background.2006-07-11December 27 20072007-12-27A procession on a dirt path lined with palm trees and blue-and-white bunting. Musicians lead, including a man in white dhoti and shirt playing a long brass horn and a young man in white playing a wooden nadaswaram-style pipe, while a drummer in a brown shirt beats a drum at right. A woman in a brown and gold sari plays a horn at left, and a man in a green and gold cloth waist-wrap walks ahead. Behind them, several men in white dhotis walk under ornate decorated umbrellas with red, white and gold fringes. A figure in an orange robe wears a long white flower garland, and a man in white with a red-and-gold shawl and a gold chain walks nearby. The scene suggests a temple or ashram festival procession.2006-12-29A large procession moves through a crowded outdoor area lined with banana leaves and a red wall, led by men in saffron and maroon dhoti-style garments with white ash markings on their foreheads and bodies. Several musicians play long curved brass horns, and a decorated palanquin or ratha with colourful canopies and a round emblem rises in the background. In the centre, a smiling man with long dark hair wears a red-and-maroon robe, a large pink and white flower garland, and gold ornaments, with a second man in maroon and gold beside him wearing a white ceremonial necklace. Many devotees in white shirts and orange saris and robes press around them, and a woman at right holds a green cloth and red bundle. a person is a probable match: the central figure's long swept-back hair, ornate robe and flower garland fit the cues, but the face and adornment are not distinctive enough to confirm.2016-01-03
