Many devotees in white dhotis and kurtas, some in darker clothing, walk closely together while strings of multicoloured fairy lights line a fence and ground. A gopuram-style shrine tower glows red, gold and green at right, with a lit entrance and a decorated structure beside it. Floodlights and tall lamps brighten the scene against the dark sky, and a smoky haze drifts through the procession. No individual can be clearly identified as a specific person from appearance.2016-03-07Night photograph of a ratha or processional chariot at a festival, lit with string lights and glowing lamps in warm gold and orange tones. The illuminated tiered tower is decorated with garlands and draped cloth. In the foreground a large crowd of devotees stands facing the chariot; many women wear white saris with gold borders, and several have flowers in their hair.
