July 24 20172017-07-24Large outdoor ritual on tiered red-painted steps lined with black stone shivalingas, each with a small brass vessel. Dozens of men in white dhotis with golden borders and bare upper bodies sit in rows, palms pressed together in prayer, many wearing rudraksha malas and white tripundra marks. Some wear orange or saffron cloths among them. A bare-chested elderly man in the foreground at right holds his hands in anjali, with a small offering tray beside him. The steps are fenced with metal railings and greenery is visible at the top edge.2017-07-31 +1 copiesA photograph of a large red-stepped amphitheatre-style platform beside a water tank, filled with rows of devotees performing Rudra Abhishekam. Dozens of men sit bare-chested or in white dhotis, many with shaved heads, before rows of black stone shivalingas with brass and copper kalashas. Several women in white saris sit among them. Red and orange flags with fencing line the steps, a tree stands at upper right, and a cameraman in orange clothing films at lower right. One figure at upper left wears a white garment and a distinctive light crown-like headdress, but the appearance is too uncertain to identify anyone.2017-05-29February 27 20142014-02-27February 27 20142014-02-27A large outdoor gathering of devotees seated in tiered rows on red-brick steps, many bare-chested men in white dhotis and women in saris and salwar kameez. Nearly every seated person holds a brass or copper vessel, and many rows have small black and gold pots and kalashas placed before them, consistent with a ritual water or abhishekam-style ceremony. Some devotees wear red or saffron sashes and garlands, and a few women wear white. A young girl in white stands at left among seated adults. No specific guru or a person figure is clearly identifiable in appearance in this crowd view, and no printed caption names one.2016-12-03May 29 20172017-05-29July 31 20172017-07-31A large outdoor photograph of many devotees seated on tiered red-brick steps at an open-air ashram gathering. Rows of black stone shivalingas, each set on a golden base with small oil lamps and offering plates, fill the steps, and many people sit beside them. Most attendees wear white ritual clothes, with several men in white dhotis and shawls and some women in white saris; a few wear orange, green or blue. A black Nandi bull statue garlanded with yellow and orange flowers sits at the left edge. Potted green plants line the upper steps, and white metal railings, banana plants and a tree frame the scene. A grey electrical box and a camera on a tripod stand nearby. The scene suggests a Guru Purnima satsang with shivalinga worship.2015-07-31Outdoor Mahashivaratri ritual at a stepped stone ghat beside water. Many devotees in white clothes sit in rows on the red-brick steps, each in front of a black Shiva linga with a brass or copper vessel, while flower petals and yellow marigold garlands lie on the linga. A few older men wear orange or saffron shawls and sit with folded hands. A large tree and a colourful banner or backdrop stand behind the tiers under a dusk sky. The scene matches a pada puja with linga abhishekam.2016-03-07March 07 20162016-03-07May 24 20172017-05-24
