Photograph of young saffron-clad children performing a drum procession outside a building with red-and-white striped steps. In the foreground a barefoot boy in orange cloth with a red border and white sash carries a large drum with a maroon cloth draped over it, a rudraksha mala around his neck. Behind him an older boy in orange, with a tilak on his forehead, and girls in orange saris with red borders play hand drums and cymbals. A red pillar frames the left side, and a kolam is drawn on the paved ground at right.

Four young men in saffron-orange robes perform drumming in a bare, pale-walled hall on a glossy floor. The nearest drummer, seated in front, strikes a large drum with a stick and wears a white forehead band; behind him another drummer plays a second drum, and a third youth beside him holds a drumstick and a long pink-and-white cloth is draped over another drum. Rudraksha malas hang around their necks and white ash marks their arms. Brass lamps, flower petals and a small oil lamp sit on the floor in front. No candidate for a person is visible in this image.

Several young boys in saffron-orange cloth and rudraksha malas sit on the floor playing drums and percussion instruments during a ritual. The foreground boy, with a white forehead band, strikes a large drum with a stick. Behind him, others play drums, a hand cymbal and a small metal bell. Brass plates hold flower petals, a lamp and small offering items on a glossy floor, and a pink-cloth-covered drum is at right. The pale pink wall stands behind them.

Photograph of a temple drum and wind ensemble performing indoors beneath golden stone pillars with carved lattice screens. Several young performers wear orange-red dhotis and rudraksha mala necklaces, with white sacred ash marks on their foreheads and bodies. In the foreground a young girl with a long braid plays a large drum, while a standing performer in the centre strikes a drum with a stick. To the right, a row of performers holds long brass horns and smaller hand drums. A red cloth backdrop and white curtain hang behind them.

Four young boys in saffron-orange dhoti-style wraps and matching orange turbans stand on wet paving in rain beside red pillars and a red brick wall. They play ceremonial instruments: the foreground boy beats a silver-rimmed drum, the second plays a long brass horn, the boy on the right shakes a small hand cymbal, and the boy at left raises a stick. Each wears rudraksha beaded malas, and the bare-chested boys are barefoot. A blue tank and palm trees appear behind.

Five young men in saffron-orange dhoti-style garments with gold borders play drums on a red carpeted stage under a tent. Several wear rudraksha malas and bracelets. They strike a large barrel drum, tabla-style drums and a frame drum. Behind them, a man in a maroon shirt and white-clad attendants watch, and colourful umbrellas and tassels hang overhead.

A photograph of a group of young women and girls in orange and maroon saris and dhotis standing in a covered walkway paved with brick tiles. In the foreground a woman in an orange sari with a maroon border holds a round frame drum (a daf or similar hand drum) and a girl in the lower right smiles at the camera, wearing a red bead necklace and a red bindi. Behind them a young man in an orange dhoti with bare upper body holds a brass tray with a coconut and a small floral-decorated kalasha or pot. In the background, a figure in orange and purple garments stands near a raised pink-draped platform with a red wooden pillar at left.

Night photograph of a drumming group in orange and saffron dhotis with gold borders performing on a paved stone courtyard. Several men play large drums: a red-and-gold barrel drum held by the left and right performers, a green drum held by a man in the back, and a small round frame drum held by the central dancer, who wears rudraksha malas. A white-clad drummer on the right, with a white headband and white dhoti, plays a red drum. A bright flashlight or floodlight from the upper centre lights the scene against dark foliage.
