A photograph of a homa fire ritual in a temple courtyard. A priest in a maroon dhoti with a gold-bordered cloth sits cross-legged at a low stone platform, feeding dry leaves and offerings into a blazing fire pit. Steel bowls, a ladle and a plate of fruit sit around him. Behind the fire, a table draped in white and yellow cloth holds rows of brass pots topped with orange flowers. Two dark stone deity figures in garlands stand on either side, and a bright decorated shrine is visible further back. The priest's face is turned away from the camera, and no reliable appearance cues establish his identity.2013-06-22A photograph of a homa fire ritual inside a temple hall. A shaved-headed priest in saffron-orange robes with a white tilak on the forehead sits cross-legged and pours an offering from a silver ladle into a rectangular fire pit with bright flames. Brass and silver vessels, bowls and a small brass pot sit on the floor around the fire pit. Behind, a table draped in a teal and gold cloth holds a row of silver kalashas topped with yellow-orange cloth, and a dark stone deity murti stands on the left wearing a red-and-white garland. Another person in orange is partially visible at the far left edge.2013-06-23June 27 20132013-06-27A young priest in a maroon dhoti and an orange-gold cloth sits cross-legged on a mat at a fire pit (homa/yagna) built of white stepped stone, feeding offerings into the flames with a long ladle while holding a small bowl and an open book. Smoke rises across the frame. Behind the fire, a row of polished silver kalashas topped with mango leaves and coconuts sits on a draped altar. Two dark stone deity murti statues flank the altar, garlanded with marigolds, and a lit lamp glows in the shrine beyond. Brass and silver bowls with flower petals sit at the priest's side.2013-06-22 +1 copiesAugust 31 20172017-08-31August 01 20142014-08-01October 26 20112011-10-26December 28 20112011-12-28October 26 20112011-10-26Photograph of a temple ritual.
