A shaved-headed, bare-chested man in a white dhoti and white shawl bends into the river, dipping a copper vessel or kalasha into the water. Beside him, a man in a light blue striped shirt and dark trousers, with a red wrist thread, also stoops to the water. Marigold garlands and orange petals float on the surface.2013-02-13February 13 20132013-02-13January 30 20102010-01-30Outdoor photo on Varanasi ghat steps beside a stone wall. A bare-chested seated man in a white dhoti with a white cloth over his shoulder wears a red flower garland and a gold armband, and holds a small red book over an open yellow notebook. Steel pot and cup stand on the stone, with red flowers and loose papers. Behind him an older bare-chested man in pink shorts unfolds a blue cloth, and a standing man in striped shirt and blue shorts carries an orange bag.2015-10-02Night-time photograph of a group of men gathered at the muddy edge of a river or pond, most bent forward and touching or handling something in the water near a small lamp. Several are bare-chested and wear orange or saffron cloths, with rudraksha malas and sacred threads visible; one man in a white garment stands at the right, and a man in a dark shirt stands at the far right. Foliage is dim at the upper right. The lamp and the offerings suggest a ritual bathing or immersion. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance.2016-10-11December 02 20162016-12-02June 04 20162016-06-04
