A man in a rust-orange dhoti and matching upper cloth stands barefoot on a red carpet with both arms raised overhead, palms open, in front of a golden throne draped in garlands of red, white and green flowers. Behind him, a second garlanded throne holds a decorated deity murti dressed in a magenta silk garment, and to the left a golden ceremonial vehicle shaped like a peacock stands on wheels, also garlanded. A white-ceilinged hall with ceiling fans and dark drapes forms the backdrop. The lone physical person is the standing man at centre, with the throne and figures being decorative focal points rather than people.2013-04-17 +1 copiesA stage with a dark maroon curtain and ceiling fans. In the centre, a seated figure in a saffron-orange cloth and matching shawl sits on a gold ornate throne under a gold umbrella-like canopy, hands joined in namaskar, with a trident standing beside the throne. Garlanded deity murtis flank the stage: on the left a figure decorated with yellow and purple flower garlands, on the right a garlanded murti in front of a yellow cloth. Rows of brass oil lamps are placed on the floor at the right. Gold lion sculptures stand on the left and right edges. No clearly distinctive appearance cues establish the seated figure's identity, so the role is given as a seated devotee/ritual officiant.2015-09-05
