December 16 20112011-12-16December 16 20112011-12-16Outdoor temple procession under a fringed multicoloured canopy. A shaven-headed man in a green silk dhoti with gold border and a beaded multi-strand necklace carries a ceremonial staff, with white tripundra marks on his forehead. Beside him, a younger man in an orange dhoti and orange shawl with a rudraksha mala holds a silver kalasha on a tray of red flowers. A third man in an orange robe and mala walks at right. At right stands a bronze deity murti with a tall crown and raised arm, draped in red cloth. Behind them are white-clad devotees, a woman in a teal sari and a few children, with white stone sculptures and palm trees in the background. The scene reads as a temple procession or puja.2011-12-13March 04 20132013-03-04 +1 copiesApril 03 20132013-04-03Outdoor procession on a concrete courtyard under a corrugated metal canopy with palm trees behind. Three men walk barefoot in ritual procession: the lead man wears a red-orange turban, a heavy gold necklace and a red-orange dhoti with gold border; the man behind him wears a rudraksha mala and a rust-coloured wrap; the third, in a saffron-orange dhoti with gold border, carries a white ceremonial pot with a green leaf. Another person in orange and a woman in white stand in the background beside decorated ritual setups and drums. The lead man with the turban and gold necklace has no distinctive presentation cues strong enough to identify him, so the role is a devotee in procession.2015-11-16December 17 20112011-12-17Outdoor photograph of a procession on a paved courtyard beside parked silver cars and a red-walled building. A man in the centre wears a red-maroon dhoti-style garment with an orange-gold sash and a long necklace of rudraksha-style beads, with a white band across his forehead; he walks forward with a slight smile and his eyes lowered. Behind him, a man in an orange robe holds his hands together in greeting. At left, a shaved-headed attendant in red-maroon and gold cloth carries a silver vessel with green leaves. Two attendants in orange-gold hold ornate embroidered standards topped with a blue-fringed canopy above. Mango-like foliage frames the upper left corner. The procession suggests a formal ceremonial escort.2014-06-11April 03 20132013-04-03December 16 20112011-12-16Four men walk along a dirt path in a procession, carrying ritual objects. On the left, a man in an orange dhoti and shawl holds a silver tray with a clear vessel topped by green leaves. In the centre, a man in plain white dhoti and shawl with a white forehead band carries a green-draped object with a gold garland. Behind him, a man in a red-brown dhoti and orange shawl holds a similar object. On the right, a man with white tilak markings on his forehead, arms and chest, wearing a red-brown dhoti with gold borders and an orange shawl, carries a green-wrapped object on a gold tray. Palm trees, a brick wall and a low fence line the path.2013-04-03A photograph of a courtyard procession on a paved tiled floor beside a red-pillared pavilion. In the foreground a bare-chested young man in orange dhoti and orange cloth carries a silver tray with a silver kalasha topped with mango leaves and a fruit, a rudraksha-style mala around his neck. Behind him a shaved-headed man in white clothes and a white shawl walks with a woman in a green sari with red border and silver necklaces. A red and gold ceremonial umbrella with tassels is held overhead. To the right, a gilded framed portrait labelled with a printed caption sits on a red velvet chair, garlanded with green and red flowers. Another person in orange robes stands in the background near a white vehicle.2011-12-16
