Under colourful umbrellas, a long-haired man in orange robes and a white flower garland walks forward, with saffron-robed attendants and devotees in white and orange around him. A bearded man in orange robes stands at the right edge near the vehicle. In the foreground a man with long dark swept-back hair, a white forehead mark, a red garland and a gold-patterned orange shawl over an orange robe walks with his eyes lowered; the appearance cues are distinctive, so he is a probable Swamiji candidate in the procession. Behind him men in orange and white dhotis carry a long red-draped pole with a trident-like staff and a drummer plays. On the left a golden ratha or palanquin with garlands and colourful tassels stands beside a tractor and a wooden cart. Several other people in white and orange robes walk behind, with a camera operator among them.2013-03-02January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesA figure with long dark hair and a vertical tilak on the forehead stands before a gilded palanquin decorated with white and orange-red garlands. He wears an orange saffron wrap over a leopard-print shawl and a heavy gold necklace with a garland of white and red flowers draped across his chest. Above him hangs a canopy with gold finials and tassels in green, pink, red, orange and purple. Two devotees in orange clothing sit in the foreground, one with palms pressed together and a bowl of apples nearby. Palm trees and a blue sky form the background.2010-02-12Outdoor procession scene beside a decorated ratha-style palanquin with a golden elephant head ornament, a large yellow fringed canopy umbrella, and tassels in red, green, blue and pink hanging from brass bells. Garlands of marigold and purple flowers wrap the vehicle. A man in saffron-orange robes, long swept-back hair and a leopard-print shawl, wearing white flower garlands and a gold necklace, stands at right waving his hand and smiling toward the crowd. Several people in white and orange clothing stand at the lower right, and palm fronds frame the top of the image.2010-02-12December 29 20102010-12-29A man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange-saffron cloth, sits on an ornate golden chariot (ratha) decorated with white jasmine garlands, purple and magenta flower strings, and tall multicoloured tassels in green, yellow, pink and blue. He holds a hand raised in a gesture of blessing, with white sacred ash marks on his forehead and arm, while smiling. Behind him is a rich burgundy and gold cushion, and a golden carved elephant-like motif curls at the left edge. The scene is an outdoor evening procession with blurred onlookers in the background. The person is a probable Swamiji by appearance cues: long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and ceremonial garlands, seated in a processional chariot.2010-02-12
