June 20 20212021-06-20A temple ritual in front of a richly decorated golden shrine. A large golden deity murti stands at the centre, draped in thick garlands of yellow marigolds, red flowers and white blossoms, with a yellow cloth behind it and a gold crown-like headdress. Its face is adorned with tilak and a silver-and-gold necklace. A bright flame rises from a fire pit in the foreground, with brass oil lamps and flower-filled pots around it. On the right, a man with a shaved head and a red headband wears an orange sannyasi-style wrap, a rudraksha mala and gold ornaments; he holds a brass bell in one hand and pours or offers something from a small vessel with the other. Gold and red ceremonial hangings frame the scene.2021-06-20A priest in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a red headcloth stands at right beside a fire pit, holding a lamp in one hand and a bell in the other. Rudraksha malas hang across his chest. Behind him stands an ornate golden shrine, and at left a deity murti is draped with garlands of marigolds and red and white flowers, with a gold kalasha and a golden lion figure below. Brass pots decorated with flowers sit in front of the murti, and a fire burns in the foreground during a homa or puja. The priest's appearance does not clearly match a distinctive identity, so he is described by role only.2021-06-20 +1 copiesJune 20 20212021-06-20A photograph of a temple ritual at a deity murti dressed with thick garlands of red roses and yellow marigolds, with a golden kalasha-shaped crown and a gold face shield with a tilak and a lotus-shaped ornament. On the right, a man with long dark hair coiled on his head, a full beard, and bare upper body with white ash markings on his arms wears an orange saffron dhoti and shawl with a gold necklace. He holds a silver plate and a brass hand bell during aarti. The gold-carved temple backdrop and yellow cloth complete the scene.2021-06-20June 20 20212021-06-20June 20 20212021-06-20June 20 20212021-06-20June 20 20212021-06-20March 03 20112011-03-03 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa ritual at dusk-lit temple setting with a large fire burning in the lower left.
