September 24 20122012-09-24September 24 20122012-09-24Three men in saffron-orange robes stand in a temple doorway with pink-washed walls and a stone pillar. The central man has long swept-back dark hair, a white vibhuti line and a multi-strand rudraksha mala, and holds a light blue plastic bag. A bald man in orange on the left wears a rudraksha mala and a white forehead mark. On the right a man in orange with a gold ceremonial necklace carries a yellow cloth bag. Several more people in white and orange stand behind them inside the doorway.2012-05-22A group of saffron-robed sannyasis walks barefoot along a paved street in front of a temple gateway. The central man wears an orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a long ornate gold bead necklace, with a red bindi on his forehead. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls and white-and-orange-clad monastics carry a small brass vessel and an orange cloth bag. Sandalwood tilaka marks cover several foreheads, and rudraksha malas hang on many chests. Behind them, a metal gate and shopfronts line the street. Appearance cues alone are not sufficient to identify the central figure, so his role is described as a saffron-clad sannyasi leading the procession.2011-09-26September 24 20122012-09-24A photograph of four men walking barefoot across a tiled temple corridor in orange saffron robes, with gold-bordered cloth draped over their shoulders. The man second from left has long swept-back dark hair, a vertical tilak on his forehead, layered rudraksha malas and a ceremonial gold necklace, and he is looking upward. Two shaved-headed men walk beside him in orange, one with white ash markings on his arms and a mala, and the man on the far right has white hair, a white headband, and several beaded malas. Behind them a crowd of men and boys in white dhotis and shirts stands in the background, and a dark wooden cabinet is visible on the right.2012-05-22March 14 20142014-03-14January 12 20142014-01-12January 08 20102010-01-08Inside a stone temple corridor with worn grey pillars and a patterned white tiled floor, two saffron-robed sannyasis walk forward. The left one wears an orange and yellow wrap, a red-and-white forehead band, a rudraksha mala and a gold-toned neck chain. The right one, shaved-headed, wears a saffron wrap with a maroon border and a long rudraksha mala. Behind them a third orange-clad figure follows, and several men in white dhotis and a checked shirt stand at the sides, some with hands folded. A dim shrine with a deity murti is visible in the background. Whether the left figure is a person cannot be confirmed from appearance.2012-05-21Photograph of several men walking through a dim temple corridor at night, in procession. In the centre, a man in saffron-orange robes with a gold-bordered orange shawl, a red-beaded headband, a long rudraksha-style mala and a gold necklace walks with his eyes lowered. Beside him on the left, an older man with a white sacred-ash marking on his bare chest and arms wears a red headband, orange cloth and a rudraksha mala. To the right, a man in orange cloth and a pendant necklace walks alongside. Behind them, men in white clothes and white shirts and dhotis follow, one holding a small bottle-like vessel.2012-05-21A photograph of a temple doorway with a green-painted wooden door framed by brass fittings and grey stone walls. A man with long dark hair, white tripundra markings and a red dot on his forehead wears an orange saffron wrap and a long necklace of large gold beads, smiling and gesturing with an open hand as he walks out. To his left stands a bare-chested man with a grey beard, dark rudraksha-style beads and a patterned cloth at the waist. Behind them, men in white dhotis and saffron cloths stand near the entrance. A blue bird logo and copyright text sit in the corners.2012-02-08
