Outdoor temple procession on a dirt courtyard under trees. A large multicoloured umbrella with tasselled fringe and bird motifs shades the scene at left. In the centre, a man in an orange saffron garment and a white-clad priest hold up a ceremonial fan or chamara near a gold-framed arch with a garlanded deity murti. Attendants in white dhotis and saffron cloth stand nearby, holding a red and gold flag. Women in cream and white saris with gold borders watch at right. A striped red-and-white platform and potted plants frame the courtyard, with footwear removed on the ground.2011-12-21A ceremonial procession on a city street in front of a pale green building, with a gold fringed umbrella canopy over a decorated palanquin. Garlands of orange marigolds and white jasmine hang from the canopy poles, with gold bells and colourful tassels. A bald man in a rust-coloured dhoti and shawl, with a sacred thread and rudraksha-style beaded necklaces and a tilak on his forehead, stands at the front and holds a garland. Two bare-chested men in white dhotis with gold borders and red waistcloths stand beside the palanquin, one holding white flowers.
