Behind it, a second palanquin with a green-and-gold canopy carries another decorated deity figure. Hundreds of onlookers fill the street and balconies, and uniformed police stand among them. Shop signs, string lights and a large red-and-white portrait banner on a pole line the roadside, with a Tamil name visible on the banner.2011-01-16April 26 20122012-04-26
