Outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with hanging aerial roots. A black stone statue of a deity wearing an orange-saffron cloth and garlanded with red and yellow marigold flowers stands on a red-painted pedestal. Near the base, a small stone inscription plaque and a stone bench sit in front of the murti. Several people stand in a line on the left in front of the murti: an older woman in a white shawl, a woman in a lilac top, a woman in a pink and white saree, a woman in a pale blue saree, a woman in a pale peach outfit, and a young girl in white with hands folded in prayer. A woman in white and gold-bordered saree stands at right near the garlanded statue, and a man in a white shirt stands behind the line, with another person seated on a low wall at far left.2010-07-03A group of about a dozen women and a few men stand in a shaded outdoor garden beneath a large banyan tree at a sacred site. On the left, a dark stone deity murti in orange cloth, with a red-and-white flower garland, is set against a yellow cloth backdrop. A woman in a dark sari near the center gestures toward the murti as she speaks, while others in white, blue and orange-brown clothing listen with hands folded. The scene suggests a pada puja or darshan at the banyan tree. No person in the frame is clearly identifiable as a person, and the only figure in saffron is the stone murti.2011-08-19Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with aerial roots.
