April 17 20112011-04-17Night photograph of a crowd queuing under a thatched shelter with a blue tarpaulin roof, the line guided by wooden pole barriers. Many devotees, mostly women in red, orange, blue and green saris and salwar kameez, and men in white shirts and white dhotis, move in a single file. One man in white holds a white cloth or paper bag, and a woman in an orange sari carries a white bag. Potted plants and a red plastic chair sit at the lower edge. Most people in the line are not clearly visible in full; the image shows a dense, slow-moving queue at an outdoor temple-style event.2011-04-17March 19 20112011-03-19August 05 20092009-08-05November 10 20112011-11-10April 06 20122012-04-06Night photo of a large crowd queuing between wooden pole barriers at an outdoor event, lit by bright white floodlights and strings of small lights. Most people wear white or light shirts, dhotis and sarees, with some in blue, pink and green. Along the left, a long string of multicoloured pennant bunting hangs over a tent with a pale pink canvas wall, and a large orange banner with printed text stands in the centre. Palm trees and dark sky frame the scene, with colourful decorated arches and lights in the far background. No individual figure can be confidently identified as a person from appearance; the crowd is shown in general.2012-01-08Night photograph of an outdoor event ground with a long queue of people standing behind a wooden railing. Many people wear white dhotis and shirts, saris in purple, orange, green and pink, and a few wear patterned shirts. A large banner on a scaffold shows a portrait of a man with a white turban and beard, with Tamil text and phone numbers. Stage lights, a scaffold tower, speakers and tented structures stand behind them, and a bare dirt ground lies in the foreground.2005-12-11A night photograph of a large crowd queued in long lines across an open, dusty ground lit by distant street lamps and a string of red and white festoon lights. In the foreground, several men in white shirts and white dhotis stand near the front of the line, one with a white moustache and another with a vibhuti mark on his forehead. Women in sarees, including a woman in a green floral saree holding a child in a red shirt, stand in the queue, and a woman in a light blue saree holds a yellow bag. Behind them, the crowd extends into the darkness with many people in white and bright saris, and a small table stands at the left edge. The crowd appears to be waiting to pass through an area at night.2011-04-17
