November 22 20132013-11-22Backlit outdoor photograph under a bright sky with palm fronds and trees. In the foreground at left, a tall wooden pillar or ratha-like structure is draped with red and white garlands. A bare-chested man with a rudraksha mala around his neck raises one arm toward the sun while holding a long white cloth rope that hangs down beside him. Other people are only partly visible at the lower right edge. The scene suggests a festival procession or temple ritual, with the figure gripping the rope near the decorated pillar.2013-11-22March 01 20162016-03-01April 10 20162016-04-10A man in a red-orange dhoti and shawl stands beside an ornate terracotta-coloured shrine chariot, pulling a rope with both hands. He has long dark hair swept back, a red and white flower garland with a gold pendant, and gold bangles on his wrists and upper arm. Yellow marigold garlands drape the wooden pillars and carved panels of the shrine, and palm fronds are visible behind. Another person's head is partly visible at the lower right. The scene suggests a temple procession with a ratha being pulled.2012-04-23March 01 20162016-03-01Outdoor photo of a flag-hoisting ceremony beside a tall ornate red stone pillar wrapped in yellow and magenta flower garlands, with carved relief panels. On the left, a red-brown ornate stone pillar with a carved tree relief and a shrine-like top is draped in yellow and orange marigold garlands with dark maroon flowers. A saffron-robed man with long braided hair, a red tilak and a beaded rudraksha-style mala stands at centre, one arm raised holding a rope that runs up toward the top of the pillar. At right, a bald saffron-robed monk in an orange shawl with a yellow border bends over and pulls on the same rope. Their actions suggest a flag hoisting at the top of the pillar.2011-03-05 +1 copiesA figure in saffron-orange robes and a long swept-back dark hair style, wearing red and white flower garlands and a rudraksha-style bead mala, stands on a raised platform beside an ornate wooden temple chariot decorated with white and red flower garlands. He grips a thick rope with both hands, pulling it upward as part of a flag-hoisting ritual (dwajarohanam) at a temple festival, with palm trees and blue sky in the background. Probable Swamiji by appearance cues: long swept-back hair, saffron robes, garlands and mala beads. He is performing dwajarohanam, the flag-hoisting that marks the start of Brahmotsavam.2016-01-11 +1 copiesJanuary 11 20162016-01-11
