August 08 20092009-08-08A padapuja ritual in progress: a bare foot in a silver tray heaped with pink and red rose petals is being washed or honoured by a man in white kurta and white dhoti kneeling at left, who holds a small brass plate in his other hand and wears red and black wrist threads. The foot belongs to a person in a saffron-orange robe with a gold-and-black beaded rudraksha-style mala across the chest. A gold-coloured ornate peetha or pedestal sits beneath the tray with a silver vessel beside it. A partial face in profile appears at far right, dressed in dark clothing.2009-09-07 +1 copiesClose photo of a padapuja ritual: a person in orange robes sits with bare feet resting on a large ornate silver and gold tray, while a hand in cream sleeve pours water or applies it over the feet. A red and gold cushion lies beneath the plate, and a silver vessel sits at right. Only hands, feet and orange cloth are visible, so the figure's identity cannot be confirmed from appearance; the feet are shown in a padapuja offering. A bangled wrist and white garment appear at left.2009-09-10Close photograph of a padapuja, a ritual of honouring the feet.
