June 19 20142014-06-19A photograph of a covered open-sided dining hall with an orange and red tent-like roof and a red-draped table at the back. Several monastic devotees in saffron-orange robes serve food on steel plates to seated people in white clothes at long steel tables. One robed man in the foreground carries a tray of food, another in the centre ladles from a steel pot, and others stand at the serving tables. Plastic cups and metal plates of food are on the tables. Seated diners in white shirts occupy the foreground. A yellow and red striped cloth hangs on the back wall beside a framed picture. The scene shows an annadan style communal meal.2008-12-25February 06 20172017-02-06 +3 copiesDecember 25 20082008-12-25A covered outdoor temple courtyard with a corrugated metal roof and whitewashed walls banded in red. In the centre a woman with long dark wavy hair, wearing a saffron-orange robe, stands with palms pressed together in namaste near a tall orange-draped post decorated with a colourful patterned band. To the left, several people in white clothes with yellow shawls carry a wooden tray and stand near a table of offerings; one man in an orange robe walks with them. A carved stone wall panel and potted plants sit at the right, and a dark black board with white lettering hangs on the back wall beside a doorway.2010-02-10A covered veranda at an ashram, photographed from behind a line of people walking away from the camera. In front, a figure with long dark hair wears an orange turban and orange wrap over orange robes. Beside him, a shaven-headed monk in orange robes walks with a bald head visible. Further along, a long-haired person in orange and another in orange with a white undershirt follow, one with a gold ornament at the neck. Ahead, three men in white shirts and trousers stand near a small table at the far end of the veranda. Folding metal chairs line the right wall, banana plants grow beside the open lawn, and a row of garlands hangs under the roof.2008-12-30January 06 20122012-01-06A covered colonnade with a corrugated red roof and a row of black metal waiting chairs along a white wall. A group of people in orange and saffron robes walks down the tiled walkway toward the right. The foreground figure wears an orange turban and a long orange robe with orange beaded necklaces. Banana plants and a green lawn line the open side, with bunting strung overhead and a pink track and a yellow-roofed structure visible in the distance. A man in dark clothing stands near the wall, and a person in white walks behind the group. Some of the orange-robed walkers appear to be sannyasis or devotees; the lead figure's appearance is not clearly established.2008-12-30November 27 20092009-11-27January 04 20122012-01-04Outdoor photograph under a open-sided metal-roofed shelter with a dark tent canopy edged in red and green. Several saffron-robed sannyasis stand together on bare ground; one in the centre wears a saffron garment and a rudraksha mala, and another in front holds a camera. Behind them are large steel cooking vessels and people in white dhotis and green hair-nets working near food stations. Right foreground, a man in white dhoti and shawl wears a rudraksha mala. Two or three people in a white-clad group are visible near the vessels. Wider context suggests a relief kitchen setting.2012-01-04January 03 20122012-01-03
