July 08 20092009-07-08A man in a saffron-orange shawl and a gold bead necklace holds a long orange rope overhead with both hands, beside a copper-coloured temple sculpture draped with yellow and purple marigold garlands and dried palm fronds. His forehead bears white and red tilak marks and his dark hair is loose. The setting appears to be a dwajarohanam or flag-hoisting rite, with the rope. Swamiji (probable): the saffron clothing, loose long hair and gold beaded necklace match the page's claim, so he is labelled a probable Swamiji present in person.2010-01-02 +1 copiesJuly 08 20092009-07-08October 07 20112011-10-07October 07 20112011-10-07July 26 20102010-07-26Outdoor photo of a man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl, bare-chested with gold bangles and a rudraksha-style beaded necklace, pulling down a long orange rope with both hands at a wooden temple chariot or ratha. Carved wooden details and purple-and-white flower garlands hang on the left, with palm fronds behind. A second man with a shaved head, partly visible at lower right, wears orange cloth. He wears a gold bead necklace and a red forehead mark. Beside him stands a tall copper-coloured ornate pillar wrapped with yellow and orange marigold garlands and a broom-like bundle, with palm fronds behind. Another person in orange is partly visible at the right edge, and a dark-haired figure appears at the bottom right. Petals are scattered on the ground. The man appears to be a sannyasi performing a ritual at the temple's dwajarohanam setting; the visible pillar garlands and rope suggest a flag-raising or pillar ceremony.2010-01-02 +1 copiesA photograph of a man in a saffron-orange sleeveless robe with a draped hood, wearing a heavy gold bead necklace and a red tilak on his forehead, standing barefoot and pulling a rope upward while looking up. He is raising a dhwaja (flag) mast, with orange and white flower and palm-leaf garlands hanging from above. Beside him is a tall ornate copper column wrapped in yellow marigold garlands and orange-and-yellow flower strings, with a broom of grass tied to it. Palm fronds form the background, and a figure in orange cloth is partly visible at the right edge along with a person with dark hair at the bottom. Dhwajarohanam flag-hoisting ceremony.2010-01-02 +1 copiesA man with long swept-back dark hair stands outdoors among palm trees, wearing an orange saffron wrap with gold-bordered edges and a dark rudraksha mala around his neck. A small red tilak marks his forehead. He holds an orange rope with one hand and looks downward. A bald man in saffron clothing sits in the lower right corner, looking toward him. Yellow flower garlands hang at the left edge, and a carved stone base is visible at the bottom left. The appearance-based cues of long hair, saffron wrap and rudraksha mala match the Swamiji candidate, so this is labelled Swamiji (probable) as the person in orange holding the rope.2011-10-07
