November 24th To 27 2005 - Highlights Of NSP in Salem2005-11-24November 24th To 27 2005 - Highlights Of NSP in Salem2005-11-24A crowded indoor ceremony hall filled with hazy light and incense smoke. Many people sit on the floor in white clothing, while several women and men in orange and saffron robes stand in the centre holding a brass plate. A man in white stands at the far right holding a video camera aloft. Colourful paper decorations and mango leaves hang from the ceiling, and decorated deity murti and offerings sit on a table at the left. A woman in a cream sari with hands joined stands near the altar. Edges show more seated devotees. Many devotees in white clothes crowd the central floor and the front aisle, with a few in coloured saris. Rows of empty plastic chairs fill the foreground. On the raised stage, a large golden throne-like seat with a tall rounded backrest stands at the centre, flanked by two garlanded altar arrangements of flowers and decorative drapes. A pale figure seated on the throne is too distant to be identified. Ceiling fans hang from the high ceiling and white tubelights light the room.2005-11-24A photograph of a large indoor satsang hall under a white tent ceiling with hanging yellow and red decorative banners. Rows of men in white clothes sit cross-legged on the floor with palms pressed together in namaskar. On the left, a figure in orange robes with a garland sits on a raised white seat, appearing to be a person (appearance cues: orange clothing and garland; the seat and role are not sufficient on their own). Framed portraits of a woman hang on the walls, and a dark backdrop with a deity image is behind the stage. The scene suggests a devotional gathering.2006-12-30 +1 copiesA photograph of a crowded hall during a Guru Purnima satsang, with many devotees in white and cream clothing lining a long queue along the left and centre. Several women wear white saris with gold borders, and some have garlands. In the foreground, a woman in a maroon sari sits on the floor beside flower garlands and offerings, and a woman in a white sari sits nearby. A man in white kurta with a red shawl stands at right, apparently guiding the line. Behind the crowd is an ornate silver-coloured shrine arch with carved figures and a golden doorway, and a stage light on a stand. Ornate framed pictures hang on the walls. Dozens of people are visible, many partially shown.2015-07-31A photograph of a large hall with a corrugated metal roof and white walls, where a seated crowd of men in white shirts and dhotis faces a line of devotees standing at the far wall. Several saffron-robed figures sit near a decorated seat with a floral-garlanded backdrop, and two orange-clad figures stand beside it. A man in white stands at the right edge holding a camera. Women in colourful saris stand at the left near the entrance. Some men in the crowd hold small booklets.2011-10-02A crowded indoor hall under a white tent ceiling with coloured fabric-wrapped pillars and a dark red curtain at left. A standing figure at left wears a white turban and white robes and gestures toward a dense crowd of seated devotees in white clothes, several with raised hands. A few children and women are visible among them, and a musician appears to play a wind instrument near the centre. Satsang or discourse gathering.2008-12-29
