Water is poured from golden vessels held by hands at the upper right, with a stream of liquid falling onto the central lingam. Red flowers rest on the tops of some lingams. Water droplets spray off the central lingam, and small oil lamps and yellow and red flower petals rest around the bases. Behind, seated figures in white dhotis and bare-shouldered ritual attire perform the abhishekam. A red cloth edges the right side. Setting appears to be a temple sanctum during an early-morning ritual.2016-12-12December 15 20162016-12-15December 12 20162016-12-12June 04 20132013-06-04Close view of several black stone Shivalingams on pedestals being ritually bathed with water in an outdoor abhishekam. Water streams from golden pouring vessels held by seated devotees. The central lingam has a small red-pink flower on top and an orange marigold on a neighbouring lingam. Devotees wear white, teal patterned and red-trimmed clothing, with bangles visible on a wrist. Only hands, arms, legs and lower bodies are visible, so the participants are partly cropped.2016-12-18Close view of several black stone Shivalingams on round yoni-peetha bases, one central lingam topped with a white flower and green leaves, with white ritual powder or milk traces on the bases. Blurred figures in the background include a person in white dhoti with bare upper body and others in blue, red and patterned saris, apparently seated in a puja or abhishekam setting. No clearly visible faces of a person are identifiable; the scene suggests Shiva lingam worship.2016-12-11 +1 copiesClose-up photograph of an abhishekam at a black stone Shiva lingam set on a circular stone base. A small gold cobra-hooded peetha holds a silver-white lingam, and water pours from a gold spout held by a person in white dhoti with gold border. Wet stone and scattered petals surround the base. A partially visible person in white and an orange garment kneels in the background.2016-10-31A dark polished stone shivalinga stands on a black yoni-peetha base, with white and red marks and petals scattered on its surface. A hand holds a brass cone-shaped vessel, pouring liquid over the linga during abhishekam. Small brass bowls sit around the base, and a metal railing stands behind. No one else is visible in the frame.2016-03-07 +1 copiesClose view of a row of dark grey stone Shiva lingams with carved bands, set in a line on a stepped platform. A bare arm with rudraksha and beaded bracelets reaches in from the upper right to place a small pink and white flower offering on one lingam. Behind them, out of focus, bare-chested men in white dhotis with gold borders sit on red steps, performing a lingam abhishekam ritual.2017-08-07
