In the foreground a bare-chested man with long dark hair wears an orange dhoti and a white and orange floral garland, holding a lit oil lamp or aarti flame before a large black stone statue of a seated figure draped in white cloth, set on a red-painted pedestal with a small bowl. Behind him, a man in an orange robe presses his palms together in namaskar, and a white-clad attendant and several people in dark shirts stand nearby on a dirt path. The scene reads as a temple ritual at the banyan tree shrine.2006-12-25A photograph of an outdoor ritual beneath a large banyan tree with hanging aerial roots. A large black stone statue of a seated figure, draped with multicolored and yellow marigold garlands and an orange cloth, stands at right beside a silver-framed arch. Three men in saffron-orange robes stand at left with hands joined in namaskar; the nearest, with a garland, bows his head while others stand behind him. Before the statue sits a red-painted base with a white cloth, a small brass lamp, flower offerings, and a ritual tray with plates of fruit and puja items on a woven mat. A man in white with orange shoulder cloth stands at the far right.2008-12-23Outdoor ritual at the base of a large banyan tree with aerial roots. A woman in saffron robes and a purple flower garland stands with palms pressed together in prayer before a dark stone deity murti wrapped in a garland of yellow, red, purple and white flowers. A seated figure in saffron clothing is partly visible at the right beside the murti. Several saffron-robed attendants stand behind, one holding a tall golden staff, and a man in white clothes stands at the left edge. On the left, an elderly white-bearded man with long grey hair in an orange garment holds up a small lamp or offering toward a flame in a shallow oil lamp. Behind him, another man in orange stands. At right, a cameraman in an orange robe films with a video camera, facing a large silver-framed deity murti draped in orange cloth and dense marigold and yellow flower garlands, with a silver decorative backdrop. A small white building and palm trees appear in the background. No readable name or caption is visible; the scene appears to be a ritual at a shrine, with at least three visible people.
