In the foreground, a large framed portrait on a stand shows a smiling man in white with a white head wrap, hands pressed together in greeting, wearing a garland of white flowers and a rudraksha mala; this is a printed portrait, not a physical person. Before it, a woman in a yellow saree with a pink-flowered pattern and a long braid bends forward at a draped gold-and-orange table holding a basket of yellow flowers and a plate of offerings, with a woman in red bending beside her, and a child is held nearby. Other devotees in white dhotis, shirts and head cloths move through the background, and a man in a white shirt stands at right holding a red bag.2012-11-27November 13 20062006-11-13Outdoor ritual at an ashram under an overcast sky. In front, a square pit with a white stone surround is filled with flower petals, and many small clay oil lamps are arranged on woven mats along the left. Three people in orange robes stand near the pit, one holding a flower garland and another holding a stick or ritual implement, while a woman in orange holds a garland. Men in white dhotis and orange shawls stand behind, and a drummer and musicians in white are visible. Two decorative umbrellas with colourful fringes and orange flags stand in the background, with palm fronds and trees beyond.2008-08-01An open-sided temporary ritual pavilion with a corrugated tin roof and bamboo poles decorated with palm fronds and leafy garlands. A large black banner shows a sepia portrait of a turbaned man with a shawl and beaded necklace, with light falling across it; the figure is a printed portrait, not a physical person. In front stand earthen fire-altar structures: a low rectangular mud platform with a sunken pit and a tiered conical mud altar, plus a clay pot and a pile of green leaves on the left. Two people walk in the background near a parked motorcycle, and a loudspeaker stands at the right edge.2006-07-16 +1 copiesOutdoor ritual gathering on sandy ground beneath coconut palms and banana plants, with striped canopies on poles. A large black backdrop displays a portrait of a man with a light turban and bare shoulders, framed by a colourful arch. In front, a decorated raised altar holds a heap of offerings and lit lamps. Many devotees sit cross-legged in rows wearing white and cream clothes, with brass plates, bowls and small clay platforms before them. Standing figures in white and orange robes move among the seated crowd, and a woman in a pink sari and a woman in yellow sari are visible. A speaker stands at the right edge.
