Outdoor ritual pavilion under a white tarp with a long red carpet running down the centre. Rows of devotees in white clothes with orange shawls sit on mats with palms pressed together in prayer. In the foreground, a figure with long dark hair and an orange turban sits facing the rows, bare-shouldered, with a plate of bananas on a green leaf in front. Orange and white flags and hanging garlands decorate the posts and ceiling, and white plastic chairs line the left side. Several people stand at the back in white clothes. A printed page suggests a programme; the scene is a devotional gathering with a plate of fruit offerings.2006-11-12A photograph of a long row of seated devotees in white dhotis and white shirts with orange-saffron shawls draped over their shoulders, sitting cross-legged on a concrete floor under an open pavilion. In front of them are banana leaves holding food such as flatbreads and fruit, small brass pots and steel tumblers, and tall bamboo poles run along the row. A shaven-headed man in the foreground looks forward while others eat or wait. A man in white bends over at the left edge, and white plastic chairs and tables are visible in the background under a thatched roof.2006-08-23November 12 2006 Salem Aadheenam Inauguration2006-11-12Outdoor ritual under a white canopy at a rocky hillside site, with a decorated shrine and banners strung overhead. Seated in rows on red mats, many participants wear white clothes and orange scarves, some with leaf plates and cups before them. At the centre, a person in orange robes sits on a raised mat near an altar, while others in white stand and move about in the background, attending the rite. The setting suggests a homa or puja ceremony at an inauguration, with banners and a shrine visible at the left. Several people sit close to the foreground, with a white-clad helper moving in the rear.2006-11-12December 27 20072007-12-27 +1 copiesA large group of devotees sits cross-legged on striped mats inside an open-sided pavilion with a tiled roof. Many wear white dhotis and kurtas with yellow shawls, while several women wear white saris with yellow shawls. In the foreground a man in white with a rudraksha mala sits before brass plates, bowls and small oil lamps, facing another person in orange and white who bends forward. Along the right, a man in orange robes stands near a wooden serving table. A pink plastic basin and brass items sit on the mats. Trees and a wooden fence show through the windows behind the group. The ritual setting suggests a puja with offerings, and no clearly identifiable a person figure is seen with confidence.2009-12-05November 12 2006 Salem Aadheenam Inauguration2006-11-12A large outdoor ritual gathering under a white and purple tent canopy. Many women seated on red mats and green carpet, dressed in white saris with yellow or orange shawls, sit before brass plates and small offering bowls of fruit, flowers and sweets. A woman in a white and orange sari stands at the centre bending forward, apparently serving or offering near a metal vessel, while others sit with hands folded and brass plates or cups before them. At the far end of the stage is an ornate gold and red throne with flowers beside it and a white-draped table where an orange-clad figure sits. Blue and gold banners hang from the ceiling. The scene reads as a ritual or puja gathering.2009-01-02 +1 copies
