A photograph of a ritual at a temple-style hall with an orange-painted wall and a Kannada-script sign above. A long-haired man with a white forehead marking and red tilak sits on a red velvet throne with gold trim, wearing a green silk garment with purple-edged border, layered gold necklaces and hands pressed together in a respectful gesture. Before him a man in an orange and yellow dhoti and bare-shouldered wrap, with bangles, bends forward offering a brass plate holding a yellow fruit or coconut and yellow flowers. Two seated men in orange robes watch, one with a white beard and rudraksha mala. A white pedestal fan stands behind the throne.2011-11-01November 01 20112011-11-01A photograph of a padapuja ritual in an ashram hall with an orange-painted wall and a pedestal fan. He wears a green silk garment with a red and gold border, a red vertical tilak mark on his forehead, and heavy gold beaded necklaces with ornate gold clasps. Behind him, a bald man in an orange cloth sits partly visible on a red chair. A white board with Kannada script hangs on the orange wall. Visible long hair, throne, gold necklaces and green silk are consistent with a person presence, so the appearance-based label applies: a person, seated in a devotional or satsang setting.2011-11-01A seated man with long dark hair, bare-chested under an orange-red shawl with gold border, wears a thin black cord necklace and a red tilak on his forehead. He sits on a red velvet throne with a red tiger-striped cushion, reaching out to hand small items from an open wooden box at his side to a boy in an orange t-shirt who holds out cupped hands. Behind them a woman in white with a rudraksha mala kneels and watches, and women in saffron and cream saris stand near gold deity decorations and garlands. Swamiji (probable), shown seated on a throne and distributing objects, with long hair, orange shawl and black cord cues.2011-12-05A photograph of a temple-hall ritual in an open, covered hall with a corrugated metal roof and orange-washed walls. A priest with a bare chest and grey hair, wearing an orange dhoti and a red shawl with gold border, holds a brass tray of green leaves toward a man seated on an orange cushioned chair. That seated man wears an orange robe, a white-and-cream garland of flowers, a white tilak and white markings on his arms, with long dark hair swept back; he appears to be a person receiving the offering, with his long swept-back hair, orange robe and flower garland as the qualifying cues. Another orange-robed man stands behind, and seated devotees in white and a woman in a yellow-bordered sari sit on the floor, with a red mat below. A standing man in a white shirt watches at right, and framed photographs hang on the wall behind.2010-07-21A photograph of a seated figure on an ornate gold throne with red cushions, wearing saffron robes with a green and gold border, a white flower garland, a gold necklace and a red bindi. He rests one hand on a silver tray holding a yellow-wrapped coconut offered by a bald, shaven-headed attendant in orange robes who bows low, with white painted markings on his forehead and arms.
