A photograph of four men digging in a red-brown earth trench beside a rough dirt bank with scattered stones and grass. The man on the far left wears a blue head cloth, a yellow-and-white checked shirt, a blue-and-white checked lungi and a red beaded necklace, and holds a long iron digging bar. Next to him a man in a white shirt and white dhoti-style cloth with a yellow-and-orange head wrap stands barefoot, hands folded at his waist. A younger man in a denim shirt and jeans bends low, working with a metal rod in the trench. On the right, a man in a light blue checked shirt and grey trousers leans on a long iron tool. Muddy water runs in a channel at the right edge.

A construction site scene at AadiKailaasa in Bengaluru. Four men work on bare red-brown earth in front of a grey breeze-block wall. A man in a white shirt, dark trousers and a purple cap bends forward swinging a pickaxe-style hoe. Beside him a man in a blue checked shirt and pink head wrap digs with a hoe, while two older men in lungis and white shirts stand watching, one holding a shovel-like tool. Bricks and loose soil lie on the ground. The scene shows manual labour during site preparation.

The man in the foreground crouches in a blue-and-white checked lungi and white shirt, working with a tool. Behind him a man in an orange-and-yellow head cloth and white shirt stands watching, another in a blue denim shirt and jeans uses a long-handled spade, and a fourth in a pale checked shirt and grey shorts stands holding a long pole. A narrow water channel runs along the right edge.

A photograph of temple construction labour on a sandy site. Three men work barefoot with long-handled hoes or shovels, mixing wet grey concrete mixed with gravel on the ground. The man in the foreground wears a white shirt and a green-and-yellow checked lungi, bending forward over the mix. Behind him another worker in a white shirt and checked lungi stoops with a hoe. At left, a man in a teal top and plaid lungi holds a red bucket, while an orange bucket sits on the sand. Piles of sand and a loose cloth lie in the background.

Outdoor construction site with reddish-brown earth. A tall mound of excavated soil sits at left. A man in a white shirt and dark shorts stands at the trench edge, while a young man in a checked shirt and green checked lungi holds a long-handled tool and a tied cloth bundle. Two more men crouch in a dug pit at right, one in a light shirt and one in a brown shirt, beside a metal pot and sandals. White walls with red trim, a green bin, palm trees and a distant road form the background.

A photograph of an outdoor plot of land with reddish-brown freshly turned soil in the middle ground and a low green ground cover in the foreground scattered with stones. A single man in a white-and-cream striped shirt, dark trousers and a pink head wrap bends forward and works the soil with a long-handled hoe. Behind him stands a grey concrete block wall, with tall coconut palms and a white building with a tiled roof on the left. The scene is an ordinary daytime ashram grounds work scene.

A construction site photograph with excavated red-brown earth and trenches. In the foreground a worker in a khaki shirt and dark trousers, bent over, lays pale grey cut stone blocks along a trench edge, with a stone-cutting tool in hand. Beside him stand two men: one in a blue shirt and jeans, the other in a white sleeveless vest and light trousers, both wearing head wraps. Rusty steel reinforcement rods rise on the left, and piles of stone and white sacking lie on the right. Behind is a wooden pole fence, green field grass and orange-roofed buildings. No ceremony or deity is visible.

Two workers lay paving on a dusty construction site in front of a stone-block building with bamboo stalks. A man in a cream striped shirt, rolled-up jeans and bare feet works with a trowel spreading sand or cement across the concrete slabs. Behind him a woman in a striped blue top and a floral blue-and-pink sari with a patterned headscarf pours from a green bucket. Loose stone slabs and rubble lie around the ground. The scene is a site work photograph, not a ritual or satsang.

Construction workers at an outdoor excavation site dig red earth and set stones along a steep embankment beside a new stepped stone platform. A worker in a white shirt and blue head cloth swings a pickaxe at the slope, while another in a plaid shirt and white head wrap stands by the wall. A bent worker in a checked shirt and purple lungi places rubble stones, and a man in an olive shirt and grey trousers stands on the granite steps. Plastic buckets, a green hose and a water bottle lie near the steps, and a rubble pile sits at the top of the slope. No deity, a person or ritual activity is visible.

Photo of men digging the ground outdoors in a dusty open yard beside a low wall painted in red and white vertical stripes, with dense green trees behind. Two men in the foreground bend forward digging with a hoe and a long-handled tool, loosening soil and clods. A man in a light checked shirt and patterned shorts with an orange head cloth holds a long-handled tool. Others stand in the background wearing white turbans and light shirts; a man in a plaid shirt stands at the left edge watching. White chalk lines mark the ground.
