A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and sprawling branches at an outdoor shrine. Several people in white and saffron-orange clothing stand on a dark polished stone platform around white-painted raised bases. A man in white with a yellow sash holds a tray of flowers, and a figure in orange robes with a shawl stands near the tree in prayer. Golden poles or lamp stands and white pillars stand nearby, and a trail of flowers rests on the ground.2009-12-27A photograph beneath a large, sprawling banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and dense canopy, on a sandy red-earth clearing with rocks. In the foreground a man in white clothes with an orange shawl stands facing right. Beside him, a bare-chested man in orange dhoti and orange shawl stands on a rock with his back to the camera, long dark hair falling down. Behind them an older man in white clothes stands near the trunk. A few other people in white and orange are partly visible at the left edge. The faces of the people are not shown in detail. No identity is confirmed from appearance; the bare-chested figure with long hair and orange garments is a candidate only, with uncertain appearance.2006-10-07December 27 20092009-12-27February 01 20182018-02-01April 24 20192019-04-24A photograph of several men standing outdoors beside a large old banyan tree with thick aerial roots and a low stone platform at its base. In the centre, a shaved-headed man in a saffron-orange robe stands with hands pressed together in prayer, looking up at the tree. To the right, a man in a blue turban and white dhoti wears a red-and-gold shawl and a garland. On the left, men in white kurtas, one in a yellow scarf, look upward; the left figure holds a phone. Paved ground and bright sunlight surround them.2010-09-27A photograph of a banyan tree shrine at an outdoor ashram site. Three men stand barefoot on a polished black stone walkway at the left. The nearest man wears white ritual dress with a red-and-gold shawl and a dark blue turban. Beside him a bald man wears a saffron-orange robe. A third man at far left wears white with a yellow scarf. Two garlands of yellow and red flowers hang on the banyan tree trunk on the right, and a low circular stone platform surrounds the tree's aerial roots.2010-09-27Outdoors beneath a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots, a group walks along a paved path with red-brick low walls. In the foreground, a bare-chested man with glasses wears a white dhoti with gold-bordered cloth and carries a cloth bag. Beside him, a man in a rust-orange cloth has long braided hair wrapped in a dark turban. Further ahead, a person in long-haired orange robes with a shoulder bag walks beside a figure in a white dhoti with gold borders and long braided hair. Several other men in white, pink and purple shirts and green lungis follow along the path.2018-02-01Devotees in white dhotis, shirts and saris work at the base of a large banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots, at what appears to be an outdoor kara seva. A man in a white shirt and white dhoti stands at the centre, bending near the roots, while a woman in a white sari to the left smiles and carries a shallow metal tray. Other people in white clothing stand and move among the trunks. The ground is reddish-brown earth piled around a low grey concrete wall encircling the tree, with more trays and loose soil on the path. No saffron-clad figure is visible.2008-02-23A large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and spreading branches dominates an outdoor site with bare red-brown earth. Two men in white dhoti and white upper cloth, with saffron-yellow borders, stand at the base of the trunk; one bends forward near the roots while the other stands with hands folded in prayer. A small figure in white stands further right near a railing. Concrete edging, a metal pipe and low walls surround the tree.2014-09-17September 04 20162016-09-04April 24 20192019-04-24
