December 20 20132013-12-20Close view of three decorated ritual pots (kalashas) set on a green-and-gold cloth-covered platform, each wrapped in fresh flower garlands of magenta, pink, purple and white blossoms with green leaves. Each pot has a yellow-gold conical cover and is draped in cloth: one in red with silver ornamental necklaces, one in blue with a silver garland, and a third in blue or dark cloth. Cloth strands or bamboo stakes frame the pots in a tent-like arrangement. Behind them are white-and-red striped walls and a dark background. No people are visible.2013-12-20December 20 20132013-12-20A brass kalasha pot, wrapped in a green and red striped cloth and draped with a silver jewelled necklace with blue stones, is topped with a brown coconut and a bright pink flower garland. Green leaves and magenta and purple flowers surround it, and it rests on scattered rice grains over a red cloth. Bamboo or palm strips frame the pot. Another decorated brass kalasha with pink flowers appears behind it. No people are visible; the arrangement appears to be a ritual vessel prepared for worship.2013-12-20A decorated brass kalasha, the ceremonial water pot, sits on a silver tray on a gold-edged altar. A whole coconut with a red kumkum mark crowns the pot, framed by green mango leaves and garlands of pink, red and yellow flowers. The pot is wrapped in a dark green velvet cover embellished with pearl strands, a gold-bordered circular medallion with a yantra-like emblem, and jewelled ornaments. A white cloth drapes beside it, with an ornate gold deity figure and brass vessels in the background.
