Night photograph of a procession on a dirt ground lit by a bright street lamp and a string of small lights. A central man with long dark hair wears a white dhoti and shawl with gold borders, a heavy gold bead necklace, and orange sandals, hands joined in front while looking to his right. Around him, men in saffron-orange dhotis with gold borders stand with palms pressed together, some wearing gold bead malas; a man in white dhoti with gold necklaces stands at the left with hands folded. Other white-clad men and a person in orange cloth at the right edge complete the group.2011-05-17May 21 20122012-05-21July 01 20142014-07-01December 29 20102010-12-29April 22 20162016-04-22June 09 20092009-06-09Night procession on a dirt path lit by a distant lamp. Five men walk in a line: a shaved-headed man in white dhoti and shirt with a rudraksha-style pendant at left; a central man in orange-saffron robes with gold-bordered shawl walking with hands folded; a man in orange robes with gold border behind him holding hands together; a man in white dhoti and shawl with gold border; and a shaved-headed man in orange robes carrying a tray with a small silver vessel, green leaves and white flowers. A man in a white shirt at right holds a lit lamp and a flower garland. Appearance-based identity of the central figure is uncertain, so he is described only by role as a devotee walking in the procession.2012-01-02Night procession on a dirt road beside a red-ochre wall, lit by a few lamps. In the centre, a young man with long dark hair, a ceremonial gold necklace and rudraksha-style beads, dressed in saffron orange robes with gold borders, walks ahead with eyes lowered. Beside him, a bald man in saffron robes with gold trim and a bead necklace walks at right. At left, a man in white dhoti with maroon border holds a long wooden staff, and a man in saffron with gold-trimmed cloth leads ahead, wearing a beaded necklace. Behind them, men in white dhotis and women in red and maroon saris follow. A decorative ceremonial headdress and a floral-patterned banner are visible at top left. Several people walk barefoot or in sandals. The procession moves toward the temple.2010-11-21Night procession at an ashram with a multicoloured fringed ceremonial umbrella held over the scene. A bearded man in a rust-brown dhoti and shawl, with a marigold garland and a tilak, stands at the centre receiving a brass plate or offering from a young man in orange dhoti. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold borders and beaded malas stand with palms joined or hold a torch, and a woman in red sari stands at right. Illuminated decorated chariot structures and lights glow in the background, and a striped mat lies on the ground.2016-12-06Night procession on a dirt path with a dark background. A bare-chested man in white dhoti with gold border leads at left, carrying a red bag. Central figure wears saffron cloth and a long garland of white and yellow flowers with a red-and-white strand, with rudraksha beads visible, walking barefoot. Behind him a man in saffron dhoti carries a brass kalasha pot with green leaves on top. Several other men in white dhotis and shawls walk in line, one holding a small torch. A red motorcycle and potted plant sit at the left and right edges. The central figure's saffron clothing and garland suggest a sannyasi-style presentation, but the appearance is not distinctive enough to confirm identity.2011-09-30July 07 20152015-07-07Night procession on a dirt road with a dark background and distant lights. A man in white and yellow robes with a yellow shawl and white forehead markings walks at left. Several men in saffron/orange robes with dark red borders walk together. A central man wears a cream embroidered sherwani, a white turban and a maroon sash, smiling as he walks. At right, a saffron-robed man with a tilak carries a silver kalasha decorated with red flowers and green leaves on a tray. Another saffron-robed man wears a rudraksha-style beaded necklace. The scene reads as a ceremonial procession toward a temple.2009-06-09
